My fastest leveling (not total marathon time 6-40, for which I frankly do not have the attention span, but rather xp/hour) seems to come from doing world map missions (kill X of Y in Z area) while queued for Smashes. For example, doing this from about 28 on Monster Island, I end up leveling so that the orange instanced missions I accepted early on end up white when I drop them and move from the Eastern areas down to the Qulaar site, where I repeat the process (if raw xp/hour is my goal).

If you are using Night Warrior, instances with "kill guy at the end" are stupidly fast and easy, but aside from those, I've had the fastest gains from a mix of world map kill counters and such, while constantly queueing for Smashes.

    Finished Lancet yesterday.

I ended up doing far more missions than I expected. There seemed to be far fewer XP Alerts coming up over the weekend, which was fine; mixing it up made it less repetitive.

Your challenge is to make a concept that includes Victorian England, fingerless gloves, and a revenge motivation. Make it so!

Well didn't go with this concept. Although it sounds more then fun....so a retcon is possible.

Anyhow. I was lacking inspiration so went with a basic Sniper/Munitions build in standard military garb. Not one of my most creative concepts. But the build turned out to be a damage monster so leveling was quick

I managed to get Recoil up to 40 last night, in just over 20 hours of game play. To anyone who had the fortune/misfortune of grouping with me....All I can say is I'm deeply sorry.

I severely underestimated the amount of time it would take, but I managed to level one character fully.

Starting at Level 1 in the Tutorial and finishing up at Level 40 on Monster Island,
it was achieved through a mix of Missions and Smash Alerts.

I'll readily admit the new experience rewards for missions on Monster Island helped immensely.

Got to run a couple of Smashes with you last night, said hi even, don't know if you noticed/remembered. Even though this was your record for least time in the tailor, I thought your Lil' Red character looked great!

Yup, that's what I've been doing too. I pretty much only do the instanced "dungeon" missions during the few times when there are no Smashes available. Otherwise, I stick to killing mobs in the world map. *ESPECIALLY* by L33 or so, then I just hang out in Andrithal killing Lemurians by the metric ton, doing whatever world map missions I can. There's lots of "villian" level foes there, close by each other, that can get you ~1k XP per kill, and they respawn pretty quickly, so they're usually back by the time I finish a Smash...

    :frown:frown:

    I'm so close......

    So many of us are......

Can we have 1 more day? Just 1?

I have to be up in for work in a few hours.......

    PLEASE!?!?!?!?!? :frown::frown:

(can I cite the team xp boost not working in alerts, alerts crapping out in such a way that my entire team had to re-log, weird delays for queing when you have a full team, and just all around lameness in the unfairitude of life as reasons to extend? Also, I'll totally bribe somebody...)

Second Event Toon, done to Level 40:
Richard Wilkins III has brought justice for 19 hours, 40 seconds.

Interesting, that this toon was only about an hour faster than my first toon, and I used 8 extra hours of Anniversary Boosts (from the Exchange) versus my other toon. Not as many Smashes, I guess.

I started this evening after work at 5:30p, I was about halfway through L33. I was running a Smash XP Boost (+15%), Anniversary Boost (+20%), and Heirloom (+9%).

    Dinner break: 6:15p - 6:45p, got to L34 at 7:10p (70mins).
    Was at L34 until 7:44p got to L35 (34m).
    Achieved L36 at 8:29p (45m).
    Achieved L37 at 9:10p (41m).
    Achieved L38 at 9:56p (46m).
    Achieved L39 at 11:39p (103m). **
Achieved L40 at about midnight (21m)

** From sometime about L34 or L35 I was invited to team up with a couple of Forumites whom I happen across in a random Smash, and then the group grew. Pion, Tom_Quantum, Segma, and Thundrax. I spent several hours churning through with those guys. Good times. Thanks for the invite, guys!!

However, I have to agree with Pion, there were some strange "bugs" during our adventure. Like during my L39 delay - There were no Smashes, or when there were, we couldn't seem to join them.

For example, we had a full team, and it would still take a few minutes for the game to load up with the Ready button.

Then at one point, they stopped working altogether, even though three Smashes were displayed, we couldn't do any of them! Our team leader would Queue us up, we'd get the message that we were in Q, then another saying we were out of Q. Or the Ready button would come up and after clicking it, it would go away and we'd be taken out. This went on for 10mins or so without any Smashes triggering/loading. Finally we thought to Log Off/On and reform our team. That fixed it at that time, but it came back a while later (but that second time it corrected itself, we only missed a couple Smashes).

Also, while in the middle of some Smashes, some Foes would fall through or half-way through the floor, or objects. That delayed things... Etc. And I can confirm the Team XP Boost didn't help.

Oh, and that daft Number-Pad-8-Key bug is back. The one where you press the Number-Pad 8 in chat, and instead of typing the number 8, it acts as an up-arrow, as though the Number Lock were off (but the NumLock *is* on, and the other numbers work fine).

    Bing! 40.

In roughly 24 hours of playtime. Five 1-hour XP boosts used, multiple alerts as well as Canada and Monster Island mission chains.

Thanks to all those who teamed, and died, with me.

And now, I must sleep. It is 4 am and this spree has worn me out.

Had epic server timeouts earlier this week. I also was a bit confused on the rules (as in "I didn't read them") and thought I just had to get any character to 40, so I failed. Ah man... I only got the character I made for the contest (Don Lupis Amor) to level 33. :/ Congrats to the people that finished though! It was fun!

lol sorry mate, I was at a hair from 35, but at the rate we were going I probably could have finished in about 3 hours. But I had to be up for work in 6 lol It just wasn't going to happen for me unless we get another day because fortunately for me my classes start this evening! Yay! lol Even 12 hours might be enough, I could run home and finish up.

Either way, there's only like 15 mins left....

Has anyone pointed out that many (most?) Silver folks haven't been able to make new characters over the past two weeks or so?

It's bugged. People have been talking about it for a while.

Some number of silver accounts just... can't make new characters. At all.

(I can convert gold characters to silver, I can delete characters, I have lots of open slots... but no character creation)

[Returns Salute] Forgive me, sometimes - What with each player having different forum names, @names, and often a multitude of character names - I often get confused/lose track of who's who. (Frankly, that's rather sad/bad -- Makes it difficult to maintain a sense of Community, something an MMO should want to thrive on, I would think.)

-- So, uh, did we get to Smash Evil together Fudgemonsta? Since the Event began I've been on only as: California Jones@PatricianVetinari and then more recently Richard Wilkins III@PatricianVetinari.

As for mine this build let me agro quickly, build up Enrage to do fast and hard damage while keeping me alive with minimal effort. It made the run easy.

    Looking forward to the results!
    BUILD:

    Primary - Con
    Secondaries - Str, Rec

    Spec Trees - Protector, Warden

    Role - Hybrid or Tank

    Passive - Regen R3
Form - Aspect of the Bestial R1

Block - Telekinetic Shield R1 w/ Telekinetic Reinforcement (tap and go)

    Offensive Powers -
Bestial Fury EB R1, Shred R1 w/ Penetrating Strikes

Annihilate R3, Eye of the Storm R3, Demolish R1 w/ Below the Belt

    Unleashed Rage R3

    Extra Powers -
    Ascended R1, Resurgence R1 w/ Advantage

Imbue R3 (useful with Resurgence/Annihilate while waiting for UR cooldown)

    GEAR:
I used Heirloom Primaries and Samurai Secondaries (+25% Physical Damage). But at 40 made my Primary Utility focus on Cost Reduction, Primary Defense focus on Dodge/Avoidance (Heroic Breastplate), and any Primary with Offense and Primary Stat boost. Focused my Con up to 400, Str to high 200s and Rec mid 100s.

At 40, with "Innate Characteristic, Talents, and Gear (with R5 mods)" it's fairly easy to hit 275'ish on PS, and 225'ish on SS's

(that's 750'ish, about what Crypticbuxom posted "...Focused my Con up to 400, Str to high 200s and Rec mid 100s?")
    • PS (primary stat)
    • SS's (secondary stats)
    • Innate Characteristic (PS, 1 SS)
    • Talents (+8, +5/+5 x5 to "SAME SS as "innate")
    • Gear (Silver Recognition Gear/Primary w/3 slots [+55 x6 w/R5 mods]& Purple Secondary Drops from AH [+40], then even out stats to PS/275, and SS's/225'ish)
