Any good Hybrid Guns/Blades?

I want to roll a goofy toon with blades (single or dual) and double guns that could deal decent damage and survive a little, is this possible?? What passives should I use? What about if I use a passive for melee and other passive for ranged? What do you guys suggest me to do?

Loves,
Kitty!!

    Very possible and very fun.
I've made a couple like this.
I tend to favour single blade for this build, myself, but that has more to do with the fact that I like the attack animations.
Your passive really depends on a few factors:
    1) will you end up favouring one power set over the other?
I typically end up with a Single Blade toon with a few nice Munitions/Gadget powers to spice things up and fill a few holes in the Single Blade tree(Bullet Beatdown ROCKS for this). In that case I would go with AoB with Giant Growth. If you end up favouring Ranged with a few Blade abilities to round out your toon, then Quary is your bestest friend in the whole wide world.
    2) I assume that your will be making a Crit. intensive build here?
AoPM is a potentially good choice, especially if you want to run a Group intensive or Pet intensive toon. It was THE choice for this type of character before being beaten into submission with the Nerf Bat and still works well.
    3) Or you could go with a defensive passive like Defiance or Regeneration that will compliment BOTH powersets.
Just my two Local Resources worth. Hope this helps.

The goal here was to produce a survivable dual pistols character who can also deal at least halfway decent damage. It has worked out so far.

By stacking dodge and avoidance through Quarry and Primary Defense gear, Conviction on a low cooldown (3 seconds), the health on kill benefit of, "the Rush of Battle," spec in the Vindicator tree, while also pushing +defense through gear and talents, the character is very survivable. Add in the amazing kiting capacity of Breakaway shot and the self heal of the Stim Pack advantage on Hold-Out Shot for even more ability to handle tough fights.

With the damage buff from Quarry, along with that passive's ability to push Nomad's secondary superstats to respectable levels, and the effect of the secondary SS on both Concentration and critical severity, the character kills quickly.

    PowerHouse (Link to this build)

    Name: Nomad

    Archetype: Freeform

    Super Stats:
    Level 6: Dexterity (Primary)
    Level 10: Intelligence (Secondary)
    Level 15: Ego (Secondary)

    Talents:
    Level 1: Sureshot
    Level 6: Coordinated
    Level 9: Shooter
    Level 12: Acrobat
    Level 15: Academics
    Level 18: Healthy Mind
    Level 21: Ascetic

    Powers:
    Level 1: Gunslinger
    Level 1: Two-Gun Mojo (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 6: Concentration
    Level 8: Quarry (Rank 2, Rank 3)
Level 11: Breakaway Shot (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 14: Masterful Dodge
    Level 17: Conviction (Rank 2, Rank 3)
    Level 20: Killer Instinct
Level 23: Ego Surge (Rank 2, Nimble Mind)
Level 26: Holdout Shot (Rank 2, Stim Pack)

    Level 35: Athletics (Rank 2)

    Specializations:
    Dexterity: Combat Training (3/3)
    Dexterity: Gear Utilization (2/3)
    Dexterity: Evasion (2/2)
    Dexterity: Deadly Aim (3/3)
    Vindicator: Merciless (3/3)
Vindicator: The Rush of Battle (3/3)
    Vindicator: Focused Strikes (2/3)
    Vindicator: Mass Destruction (2/3)

    Guardian: Ruthless (2/2)
    Guardian: Find the Mark (2/3)
    Guardian: The Best Defense (3/3)
    Mastery: Dexterity Mastery (1/1)

With this set up I see up to 4.3k crits out of Breakaway Shot, 3.6k crits out of Hold Out Shot, 1.8k crits out of Two Gun Mojo, 10.9k crits out of Sniper Rifle, and 1.2k Crits out of Lead Tempest.

Lead Tempest takes my dodge up to 72.2% and my avoidance up to 73.5%.

    CURRENT GEAR:

All Primaries are Silver Champion Recog. Secondaries are Purples.

PO: Critical Core R5, +51 Dex, +51 Int
    PD: Gambler's R5, +55 Int, +55 Ego
PU: Veterans Core (+13 Int & Ego), +51 Int, +51 Dex
SO: +20 Dex, +47 Critical Strike
SD: +11 Con, + 10 Dex, +10 Rec, +11 Pre (old acclaim gear)
    SU: +20 Dex, +20 Ego

Note that Nomad has more R4 gear than R5, nothing aove R5, and a piece of pre On Alert gear.

    VARIANT OPTION:

Take out Lock n Load, or Breakaway Shot to add Evasive Maneuvers. At R3 it will add a further 24% to your dodge chance.

86% Dodge with 73.5% Avoidance while using an offensive passive !

Ive been playing with this build for a a while now. Decent damage, decent survivability. Adding some Dual Blades goodness would not be at all difficult. Take out Sniper Rifel and add in Dragon's Wrath and you are set. Of course feel free to tweak to you concept's content.

'Caine, miss you bud. Fly high.

If you want a more survival build, and since Ashen already postet something without Blades,
you can also try this one :

    http://co-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=160031

Its my most favourite build at the moment

Rocket can even on a defense build crit for a total of around 8k .. and its an AoE
Pulse Beam can also go up to 1.8k.

Lead Tempest is however a little weaker .. only 7-800 or so :frown:
