I guess I'm a suck for nostalgia

My best memories of this came come from beta up until about right after the first year anniversary.. There've been a lot of neat things come and go since then, but I feel like that's when the magic was.

Here's something you may not know -- the theme for Snake Gulch was different from beta up until about a month after launch. I always preferred the original theme and never got a straight and/or official answer as to why it was changed.

Of course, for all I know it's changed again. Haven't been in there for a while.

Which do you prefer?

I'll try to dig up some screenshots of the first birthday bash as well.

    Definitely like the older one better... could have sworn that's the one I remember.

    AFAIK, the music is still buried inside the game files (unless they've deleted it for some reason). You just have no way to make it play ingame anymore.

    Actually, the music was changed before your newer one as well. It now went to the ASCII Oakley battle theme.

    Damn that old theme is nice, I'd definitely like to see it reintroduced. There's a lot more going on with it and it just oozes cool.

    *EDIT* Don't remove the new one altogether though

    Old one is much better. The newer sounds too cheesey.

    I like both a lot!
    Can't we have both please?

    What i dont like is all the billowing dust thats in the desert now in huge excessive quantities that my laptop can't handle and hurts my eyes forcing me to drop to minimum graphics. I enjoyed the desert far more before all the dust.

    The first ASCII Oakley theme is just a variation on the original theme. It was removed too and replaced with something else.

    I miss the old character selection background the new ones a bit grim :/

    Damn, I never heard the old Snake Gulch theme music cuz I wasn't around in beta but I kinda like it better. The current is just kinda slow and lulls me down. The old one feels more energetic and "actiony".

    lol, good point. The new character selection background is... well, kinda what it actually IS--our characters superimposed over a random image that makes no sense in terms of perspective.
