Why is it I can't keep my old name?

Sooooooo, is there any particular reason behind not being able to keep our old display and user names when WE HAVE TO MERGE/CREATE a PWE account?
All of the hassle and hullabaloo they keep adding to the business end of things is really doing a good job putting me off of ever coming back to the game.
And did I notice a price hike in the C-store with the switch to Zen?
Have they fixed the issue players were having not being able to get whatever authorization codes to work to actually get into their accounts?
Making the bird costume stuff a 900day reward, already had me plenty disheartened, and all of this latest stuff really has me looking to jump ship. Which sucks because I was really liking some of the ways I've been able to change my characters. But everything I've been seeing come along doesn't really have me excited about the future of the game.
I got along for ages without being playing superheros, I suppose I can again.

2) There was a 25% increase when everything switched over to Zen. The stipend, existing amounts were also increased to cover it. Additionally, you get the same amount of zen for a buck that you would get CP.
1.00 = 80 cp = 100 zen.
So it all works out in the end and no one is getting effed over.

4) Sorry you feel that way. Its 2 costume sets and a 1 travel power, which is a drop in the bucket compared to all the other customization options available for this game.
Most likely because the name you're trying to use is already taken in the PWE system. Not a lot Cryptic can do about that.
Prices went up 25%, however the amount of Zen to the Dollar is 25% more than the amount of C-Points to the Dollar (100 Zen per dollar over 80 CP per dollar). Also the stipend went up from 400 to 500. They also increased everyones C-Points by 25%, the only thing not to adjust is the prices on the exchange but that's out of Cryptic's control.
I don't have any other answers for you unfortunately.
I'd also like to add that, if you're creating a new PWE account to merge, don't make the PWE account name the same as your Cryptic name. If you do, you won't be able to keep your forum name.
