Introduction:

"The world has always needed heroes. Always needed sentinels who could protect, and defend it from it's evils. Always needed those few who would stand the line between chaos and order. The world has needed Guardians. And that's who we are." -Black Sigil

Founded on December 6th, 2011, the Platinum Guardians started out just like any other team. An idea, a roster, and a goal. A goal to rid the world of it's darkest threats; Therakiel, the Shadow Destroyer, and even the great returning Doctor Destroyer. Upon the message from the hero Black Sigil, five heroes met together at the Champions' Homestead.

The idea was simple, work together in every way possible in hopes of accomplishing more. With the agreement of each individual, the Platinum Guardians were founded. Yet unknown to them, this founding had attracted the attention of VIPER. Upon being attracted Downtown by a call for help immediately following their formation, the new hero-team was ambushed by VIPER.

While they fought long and hard, VIPER had the upper-hand, being nearby their own Nest. The Guardians managed to win by splitting the VIPER from each other and disabling their comms, but at the cost of almost every life, and the disappearance of Black Sigil. Only one Guardian seemed to remain, Gynoid AL-1, who continued alone, yet remained dedicated to the cause.

A month later, the Black Sigil returned to the now one-person-team, to help rebuild and reform it. With the help of coming members, the Platinum Guardians have grown to become stronger than before. Today, they are considered as a great team in the public eye, and they continue the search for more heroes to join their fight.

What your character(s) might know:

The Platinum Guardians were never very public until their reformation, as they only had less than a day of actually existing as a team. But when they began to reemerge, more and more people started to hear about them. Your character may have heard a lot about the group, such as the call for it's formation, the quick death of it, and it's return and reformation. Perhaps your character has also seen a few of them a couple of times (although, that would be something to talk with the player(s) behind the character(s) about, unless you literally saw those characters). Anything else though, at the time, you most likely wouldn't have heard about, not because of anything being kept secret, but because those things are less notable.
Out of Character Information:

I. What the Platinum Guardians are:

The Platinum Guardians are a heavy-roleplaying, modern superhero team with a focus of protecting everyone they can, including villains unless it's in the extreme situation where they are forced to. Despite them tending to prefer smaller rosters, they are at no disadvantage fighting crime. They are beacons in a light that may soon shine across the globe. Vanquishers of evil, defenders of peace, they are heroes. They are Guardians.

II. What the Platinum Guardians are about:

The Platinum Guardians are primarily about providing an active and fun experience in Champions Online specifically targeted at the roleplaying community. We do this mainly by holding events in-game regularly, and by inviting members that can socially add to our activity. Whether running quests together in-game, posting into our forum roleplaying threads, or doing something else entirely, the Platinum Guardians are about fun.

IV. How to Go about Joining the Platinum Guardians:

So you're interested in joining the Platinum Guardians? Great! Please send notice to one of the contacts for recruitment shown below, whether through in-game PMs, the mailing system, or (and most preferably) our online website, seen above.

Once you've messaged your interest in the group, you'll be responded to as soon as possible (which, in most situations is about a day or two; if longer, it's suggested that you go to another contact as the one you sought may be unable to respond) and a time will be set up for an interview. This interview will be carried out mainly (if not completely) out of character for simplicity's sake.

If you're accepted, then you'll immediately receive an invite to the supergroup, if not then you'll be given a reason why.

V. Contacts for Recruitment:

VI. Our Alternate Character Policy:

Alternate characters are allowed within the Platinum Guardians, but it is important to note that each player is allowed ONLY three characters in the supergroup. Each character will be given an interview like the others, and each character will start out at the lowest rank. This is to make sure that the character doesn't only fit the group, but also does not cause IC confusion as to how a new member could immediately be granted a high rank within the group.

VII. The Players We Want:

The Platinum Guardians are looking for members that can be kind and respectful to others, no matter who. Additionally, it's important to us that our members remain socially active in-game, or when that's not possible, on our website (there are, of course, exceptions to this when necessary). The difference in our minds between activity, and social activity is participation. So whether or not you're online doesn't matter if you don't show it.

If you're unable to be any of these things, then you should most likely find a better suitable group as this is important to us.

VIII. What we are looking for in Terms of Characters:

One of our biggest needs for characters in our supergroup is originality. Other characters are great, Spider-Man, Bat-Man, etc, but making a clone, or a rip-off of those characters takes away from them. We want members to create original characters, or at least characters with a decent amount of uniqueness about them. If your characters don't fit this, feel free to tweak them, or find a more fitting group for them.

Another of our needs are characters that can be part of a team. Yes, by joining you'd technically be a part of the team, but Wolverine is an example of this need. While he has been part of teams, he has also been more of a loner, and he tends to keep to himself, do whatever he feels the need to, etc. We want characters that instead of that, can stick with the team a bit more instead of taking on every challenge alone.

Additionally, we want characters that will allow others to have their share of the spotlight. Every character deserves their own glory, and that should not be changed or taken away to add to another's fame. Our characters should be able to be mindful of allowing each character their own chance at standing out.

Finally, and this one has had an extreme impact on the Platinum Guardians; we want characters of variation. Yes, you're welcome to whatever character you want within reason, but please, try to select characters for our group that won't match too many others. We've had a lot of power armor type characters, and we aren't saying that they aren't allowed, but we ask that you find a more unique character as opposed to adding to an already large array of types.

IX. What we aren?t looking for in Terms of Characters:

The Platinum Guardians do NOT need, nor want characters that can solve most any problem with the wave of a hand, snap of a finger, or anything like that. Characters like that, that can do just about anything that they want to take away from the drama of having limits to try and get past to solve a problem. This also applies to having a "Batman's Utility Belt" (or, a tool for every situation).

The Platinum Guardians are also not looking for characters that are vigilantes or anti-heroes. The main moral rule in the group is no killing except for as a last resort. Even then, it's frowned upon in the extreme. If the situation is preventable, then it shouldn't have occurred. Overall, characters that have a darker theme, or persistently seem to get into trouble with the rule, aren't appreciated and aren't accepted.

Additionally, gods, goddesses, angels, demons, and any similar characters are accepted; but within reason. The character must have a good reason for being in the group, for fighting crime, and for just being on the same level as other heroes. Overall, unless you're able to explain the character well enough, playing any of these types of characters is frowned upon.

Finally, each character must be reasonable within the Lore. No, you're not Kinetik's long-lost brother, nor are you the former master of Dr. Destroyer. If you can have at least a decent respect for the Champions Universe, you can be accepted, but if you just start to decide that the lore was made to be twisted around your finger to fit you, feel free to find another group.
