Fighting Rockjaw was awesome, your artists did a great job on his comic book style look too

Now I have to try the bad guys made by the other winners.

It amused me. Apart from any artistic point of view: The new Alerts are bugged.

    - Ao... Mr. Worm:
    - Nice touch giving him his cult, but he lacks Enforcer class minions in A Day at the Mall.
    - His minions use VIPER dialogue in Stitch in Time.
    - He and Rockjaw definately use the same dialogue in A Day at the Mall.
    - I did not experience this myself, but some people have been saying that he has insane self-heal capabilities with Devour Essence and/or Lifedrain, up to the point where it becomes impossible to defeat him. I dont know if this is true, but maybe look into it just to be sure?

    - Madam Mayhem:
    - Her robots also use VIPER dialogue, at least in Stitch in Time. Unintentional I hope.
    - She uses dialogue which would be more fitting for Devana Hawke in Stitch in Time.

    - The Madstone:
    - Seems alright, the Q-Horrors dont behave strange in any way.
    - Though in her version of Pyramid Power, my team didn't get one of the random burst buffs, while the enemies did. Bug? I cant tell.
    - Her Q-Horrors in Bank Robbery have unfitting dialogue. Unless you made her this cheery and enthusiastic as part of her madness, her dialogue in Bank Robbery is also not really fitting.
    - Judging from her dialogue in Radiation Rumble, she thinks she's VIPER-X.

    - The Hawke bi... Devana Hawke:
    - Her Mafia minions use Might powers. I mean, I'm not surprised she's an incompetent boss, but at least she could have bought them some guns.
    - Also her dialogue in Pyramid Power does not make sense, as she doesn't use the word fool, yet Dr. Ka responds with "No, you are the fool! etc." as usual.
    - I'm unable to queue for her version of Stitch in Time, Museum Heist. I get the following in chat instead of the message that I joined the queue: "Queue_Join" takes 1 argument(s). Queue_Join <string> ...believe me, I'd love to have an argument with her.
    - I can tell for sure now that Devana and Madam Mayhem have the same dialogue in A Day at the Mall.
    - Her Mafia Thugs show up in A Day at the Mall, but I noticed that her ranged villain and her enforcer share the same name: Made Man. Just something minor, but maybe change it for diversity?

    - Rockjaw:
    - Rockjaw was referring to himself as 'we' in his dialogue in Soul Siphon, an Alert where just the villain himself is fought, except for the Annelids spawned by the machine. Unless you made him have a split-personality disorder, I'm guessing that this dislogue is wrong. (Wild assumption on my part: Is it possible that Ao... Mr. Worm's and Rockjaw's dialogue have been switched? Ao... Mr. Worm seems like the kind of guy who'd refer to himself as we. ???)
    - His panel in the Alerts window lists him as Ao'Qephoth for his version of A Day at the Mall.
    - His dialogue and Dr. Ka's response in Pyramid Power dont make sense, just like with Devana Hawke.

    - Hrodgeir the Unending:
    - His name is spelled wrong in-game. Hrodegir. EDIT: Right now I cant tell which spelling is wrong and which one is right: Even his Alert panel spells it Hrodegir, while the original contest entry and his pop-up in the Alerts window say Hrodgeir.
    - His panel in the Alerts window for A Day at the Mall and Pyramid Power is glitched.

    Also:

    - The new villains are knockable. I guess that's also unintentional.

    - Every new villains lacks a proper description in their bio. Especcially with the fan-made villains it would be important to introduce them, maybe even with a short note that they are fan-created.

    - In the dialogue window which pops up upon entering an Alert, the villain factions of the newcomers are often used grammatically wrong. Example from A Day at the Mall/Rockjaw: "...Escaped Prisoners has not yet demanded..."

    - In their idle chatter, the minions often make those errors too. Examples from Museum Heist/Devana Hawke: "For Mafia Thugs!" (Just copied over from VIPER?) and Recruitment Drive/Rockjaw: "Feel the power of Escaped Prisoners!"

    - I'm also getting the feeling that the dialogue of the villains may have been mixed up. I had Ao... Mr. Worm asking me to 'Back off, so no one gets hurt!', which doesn't really fit for a dimensional parasite and Madam Mayhem saying that 'Someone will pay for your hide!", which I'd expect from the Hawke bi... Devana Hawke.

Maybe I'm missing it, but is there somewhere with links to the full images of the various player villains? I really love the art-style employed, and would like to see how the game models translated into it. I'm also sure that the winners would love to be able to get a copy of their character's art.

I'm enjoying them, however.. new alerts? These are really just old alerts with new villains.

Great job on the look of these guys, and I like what you've done with the miniions. However, no bios? Please, show me you care about the touches: story (info), characterization (dialogue), and achievements (Perks.). Touches and attention to detail elevate games. Please don't ignore or downplay these elements.

As Kaufmann already said in detail, these new villains suffer from all kinds of bugs.
Dammit, devs, can't you release andthing without bugs anymore? This game has too many of them already and more are piled up with every rushed update!
It's time for you to bring Champions Online back to acceptable quality, before it becomes completely unplayable!

I'm guessing no, simply because no Alert villain was supposed to be knockable. I think Hi Pan isnt anymore either? Didnt fight him for a long time.

You should do these "npc from player" contests more often. I like th idea behind some of them, but haven't been in the alerts too much to notice any buggage.

Nah, Hi Pan is still knockable last I checked. I don't mind it (as long as there's nobody with knocks, myself included) but until there's an alternate way to build stacks of enrage for a might build, I'm out of luck.

From my experience, it didn't seem like it was a maintain power that was doing the uber-healing. On my tank, the aggro was on me and I blocked the '...your soul...' maintains.

The health just seemed to come out of nowhere. If anything it seemed to be more related to some kind of 'tap' curse animation where the target would turn blackish green. I say related, because if everybody was blackish green, AO was back up to the top of the last health bar in seconds. If none or only one person was blackish green, AO lost what I would call a normal amount of damage.

Not super-knowledgeable about every power, but is there a 'tap' dot which heals per target? Just wonderin'

To my knowledge no, there isnt such a power. Maybe they gave him a signature power to drive the point home that he's an extradimensional life parasite?

Oh, okay, hmm. Well, lucky for me, all my experiences were either bank robbery or mall. So, we weren't on the clock.

It was funny to see toons actually strain to do more damage when he was at 10% though, lol.
(normally 10% is "smoke'em if you got 'em" time in bank robberies : )

Liked Hrodegir the unending a lot (concept wise) and it's like he was tailor made for Recruitment drive. Something like "you peons will join my army of the undead and live forever" very nice but I don't think peons is the right word maybe bondi?
Recruitment drive can get tough and several problems with the queuing system didn't help so I racked up a coupla losses before getting in a team that trounced him.
I faced the fearsome viking again in Day at the Mall, this was a much easier mission and I noticed that my healer was A. The tank and B. Not taking a lot of damage which struck me as a bit odd. Shrugs maybe there were a couple of AORPs in there. My healer was in DPS mode with Seraphim I'd have thought that a Heavy Weapons build would have been able to do pretty good damage to that but apparently not.

I look forward to meeting the Unpronouncable one.

The Madstone looks cool too and I liked her Qliphothic horror minions.

Devana Hawke I need to study a bit more I've fought her in Pyramid power and her insistance on evasive maneouvres made it exasperating at times lolz stay there and be hit! I wanna get more of a handle on whether she's a serious threat or not. I fear she maybe underpowered.

Tussled with Madam Mayhem or at least we would have if the Stitch in time mission was not bugged think I got to fight her in the Museum Heist. Like the back story on that one and some quite scary minions.

Lolz why does darkness work so much better for the villains than the heroes?

You are correct, his name is spelled wrong in-game and on the Alert panel. The correct spelling is "Hrodgeir". It is a Norse name, meaning either Fame Spear or Spear of Fame, and was a reference to the ceremonial spear that was thrown to signify the start of a battle.

I reported it as a bug, but seeing as how both the name plaque and the announcer have his name wrong, it is unlikely it will get a fix.

On a different topic...anybody have a full-body shot of his concept art? I would love to see how the art team handled his costume!

I just queued for Stitch in Time: Rock Jaw. But it said Queued for "Stitch in Time: Ao'qephoth", then it failed and I got this message: [Admin] (very funny) Couldn't get map names from map manager.

I guess the queues fail because they got the villains mixed up.

Mmm since nothing was mentioned in notes (what a surprise!) is Aoquewormthing supposed to have such an OP heal? Granted, I only ran it one time and it was with a team of randoms, I got grasp of aggro and then proceed to block the whole time, and he still healed to full health after some time. I asked in zone chat if we were doing something wrong, and people replied you had to use Haymaker with Nullifying Punch or Skarn's Bane to reduce his healing.

I think for a regular alert (non-Rampage that is) this is terribly broken. If you get teamed up with randoms and none has this powers you might as well leave map?

On an unrelated note, perphaps it does not mean anything for Cryptic/PWE, but we ,the community, would really appreciate a dev dropping from time to time on the forums and telling us they love us a lot. It makes us feel special and boosts our morale ;) You know, like PWI mods/GMs do in this topic:

GMs Kantorek and eatwithspoons were even loved for their interaction with the community, just saying.

Bad Kitty! Dont start this again! Bad!

Anyway, Hrodgeir (I should've known that bit with the spear, I'm in a medieval reenactment group, shame on me...) needs his name spelled AND spoken correctly. I cant access the PTS right now *angry glance at the PTS shard* but I believe that Kenina Blaze is currently called Karina and Freon II's name is currently the abomination of Freon 2.

-> Devs, please: This contest was not easy, neither for us nor for you. You and us both had quite a bit of frustration after the winners were released, but let's not make this contest be remembered as a complete farce by degrading the work of the winners through the 'sloppiness' with which the new villains have been released.

Congrats Cryptic World.... You officially possess the "Reverse Midas Touch": Everything you touch, whether it's player-contributed or designed in-house, turns to "buggy". Typos in the names (Hrodwhatsit), minions from the wrong factions, knockable bosses and... Well, Kampy's list was thorough, so I don't really need to re-list them.. Just goes to show that the New Boss is, in fact, actually WORSE than the Old Boss. But y'all probably already noticed that. :frown:

So, we played against Ao'Qephoth last night and we found him impossible to defeat. We had some fairly decent DPS but could barely make a dent in him before he healed up. Maybe it can be done with some pitch-perfect DPS builds, but there was no way that we could put enough constant hurt on him to overcome his insanely effective self-healing. We shall not be trying that again until he's nerfed.

Still, we got some good RP after we bailed from the fight, licking our wounds and nursing stories about an unstoppable monster...

I find it funny how they create moar Alerts to bring people to play less alerts.

Lets be honest .. for most people i know there were two reasons to do them :
    1. Questionite
    2. fast leveling

Now 1. was already nerfed on Black Fang .. and 2. is nerfed more and more the higher the
fail chance is, and if the easiest Alerts are less often in the rotation, and the fail chance
gets higher, normal questing suddenly seems to be again much more rewarding

To ogle the damage numbers of new powers and... uh... argue about them on the PTS forums, and... uh...

    Okay, I got nothing.

These should never have put to live, it's a slap in the face of the gamer base that this level of slipshod work was viewed as acceptable for release. The new producer either has to bear down on his playtest team, because they did NOT do their jobs adequately or demand that they get sufficient time for test, if it was a case where CO had limited playtest resources.

And he needs to make sure that when a build goes live on a Friday, the servers are up during the weekend to test. This was a disgrace.

Thanks to the Devs for fixing some of the bugs, but there are still some:

EDIT: Made the list of bugs more categorized.

    The Madstone:

    -> Stitch in Time:
    - Her Master Villains (Malfean Inquisitors) do not spawn in Stitch in Time. This makes the Alert uncompleteable.

    Hrodgeir the Unending:

    - ...is still lacking a portrait, panel and announcer in some missions.
    - ...is still being called Hrodegir in some instances.
    - His Enforcer (Plagueborn) is spelled wrong (Plaugeborn).

    -> Stitch in Time:
    - His minions in Stitch in Time use VIPER dialogue. His own dialogue in that Alert seems to be wrong too.

    Ao'Qephoth:

    - A confirmation/fix if not intended, concerning his impressive regeneration abilities would be appreciated.

    -> Stitch in Time:
    - His minions use VIPER dialogue in Stitch in Time.

    Rockjaw:

-> A Day At the Mall:
    - His panel in the Alerts window lists him as Ao'Qephoth for his version of A Day at the Mall.

    General:

    - The new villains are knockable.
    - A description in their bio would be nice. They are lacking one.
    - Please look over all the dialogue of the villains and their minions again. Some of it still seems wrong or unfitting, especcialy...
    - ...in Pyramid Power, where Dr. Ka's response ("No, you are the fool! You will never be able etc."), doesn't make sense, if the villain does not use the phrase "Fools!/"You are fools!"/etc. himself.

May I also suggest that the second round of the Create-A-Villain contest winners are given the option to write the dialogue of their villains and their minions themselves if they want to? This would go a long way to prevent the dialogue mix-up we had?

This need to be on the Top-2 bug list. Its important to fix this as soon as possible and
don't care about any other bugs as long as this critical Bug isn't fixed

After that bug is fixed, you also don't have to fix other bugs, because all players are now

Please, post all those bugs you feel to be more important here in this thread. I'm sure you will have lots to do.

As long as you do this, you may also stop and think for a moment how you would feel if Hrodgeir would be your creation and be spelled wrong at every corner. If it is yet another attempt at displaying your disatisfaction about the fact that the new villains have been implemented in the form of (gasp.) Alerts, then of course you are free to do so, even though doing so by mocking the contest villains certainly lacks in style and manners.

even more alerts .. and even bug-fixes are only spelling errors on .. yeah some Alerts.

I didn't even tried more than one of these alerts .. it was the villain with bow-powers
i think .. but i really don't even care about her name, and i'm not interestet in any form
