With the PA overhaul and the new powers released at that time I was charmed by Plasma Beam, even though it has some serious issues, most notably its lack of any elevation.
Still, I was inspired to create a build around it. Something that wasn't strictly Power Armour. Enter the Mystic Gauntlet, an arcane device that grants great powers to its wearer. To best represent all attacks coming from this gauntlet and still utilise Plasma Beam, I had to go with all left handed attacks, with the exclusion of the Energy Builder. The energy management is so good that you very rarely need to resort to your EB anyway.
Keep in mind that this is not a leveling build; simply level up your character until level 14, then retcon into it. At level 14 this is dirt cheap, luckily enough.

Why did I pick what? I'll try to briefly explain point by point.
Primary SS Constitution: Boosts Defiance! buff. Lots of hitpoints. Interacts with Nimble Mind.
Secondary SS intelligence: Cost and Cooldown reduction. fuels Concentration. (and if neccessary, overdrive).
Secondary SS Recovery: large equilibrium. Fuels Defiance's energy return mechanic and energy return of blocking. Also adds a bit of endurance.
Power Bolts - Neccessary evil. I tried to build with Kinetic darts (left handed EB) but that didn't really work since most powers are out of Technology. Steady shot is in technology, but munitions didn't have enough suitable choices for the first 3 powers to work.
Energy Shield - Your Mystic Gauntlet creates a forcefield to shield you. Works well
thematically, advantage gives even more resistance as long as you stay at range.
Concentration - More damage, more energy. Simple, right?
Defiance - Allows great survivability, and quite impressive energy return, because we chose Rec as a secondary. visually unobtrusive.
Lightning Arc w/ Crippling Challenge - Does brilliant damage, even in Hybrid. Quickly ramps up, and thanks to CC, keeps aggro and disables blocking. I'm looking at you, Cemitiere.
Plasma Beam w/ Challenging Strikes - Wipes out trash mobs like there's no tommorrow. Well, there won't be, for said mobs! The Melta Cannon advantage stacks Plasma Burn rather quick, meaning that once applied, you can swing to your next target. It seems to do more damage than R3 as well. Ask the nice baddies to follow you to some nice flat ground first though. Sometimes a Pain in the behind, but it looks awesome.
Lifedrain - Your Gauntlet sucks the life out of your foe, so you can keep up the pressure whilst still healing.
Reconstruction Circuits - Main heal, where your Gauntlet regenerates your health. Best part is that you can still use Plasma Beam, or turtle up whilst soaking up huge energy returns (thanks to Rec) through blocking, guaranteed to restore you completely. If you don't like it, take Conviction or Bionic Shielding.
Unbreakable, Masterful dodge - Two Active defenses that will be available to you most of the time thanks to SS int, Defensive Expertise and Protector Mastery.
Ego Surge w/ Nimble Mind - the 1st of our two Active Offenses, which boosts ranged damage through Ego, and Critical Chance through Nimble Mind! Did I mention Nimble Mind scales with all that Constitution we have?
Lock N Load w/ Two Smoking Barrels - More Crit boosting, Plus cost reduction, all on top of a nice damage boost. Two Smoking Barrels cuts the cooldown of Lock N Load by two seconds for each Melee attack, but why would we want that? Read on.
Mighty Kick /w Madness?! - Wait what? Mighty Kick?! are you for real, Pix? Hold on, let me finish, Kanye. Mighty Kick in this build is not an attack but a utility power. Madness?! procs Defiance! (queue stage left big chunk of energy, thanks again, Rec) to quickly build us our stacks, but its basically the coolest looking energy unlock. It also reduces the Cooldown on Lock and Load, just for giggles. If you don't like it, take Overdrive (or MSA, if you opted for conviction over RC), and don't forget to get rid of Two Smoking Barrels on Lock N Load if you do.
Nanobot Swarm - I want my Active Offense/Defense. Now.
The Specs seem fairly straight forward: Armored, Fortified Gear(x2) Boosts our defense, which is then all converted to Offense thanks to The Best Defense. Which means we won't have to waste any gear on it. Which is dandy, because we want to slot some Crit gear to fully take advantage of Ego Surge and Lock N Load. oh, and Adrenaline Rush really wants you to crit, please, to give you a nice bit of health back scaling with your hitpoints. You will be able to easily get 24-30% crit chance through gear alone. Protection Mastery so you don't die, Ever. (guaranteed until you run into Gravity Wielding Fashionista's).
