Guess being the most neglected game of Cryptic's also meant we were last in line for this silliness. Probably a first, huh?

They'll stay, but will only be accessible in-game.
Well that is unless they fail and demolish that too, you know, just another bug to the list...
It's not like there's anything important in our mails, right?

This is the end for me than))
Good job, Cryptic. Good job... GOOD ****ING ******* ON PWE! (sorry for the rage, but you deserve that)

I hope you will enjoy your game population now. I have only one question - is it really give you so much money, that you ready to betray YOUR subscribers?
    You dissapoint me, Cryptic...
Lick your PWE... Lick it slow and gently. And then it will destroy CO once and for all.

    Enjoy your slow death, Cryptic.

    Same.

After reading some of the posts on the STO forums about mail being deleted in the switch-over process I logged into game long enough to grab a bunch of gear that I had stored in mail.

But we're also GAINING things in this process as well. And while many of the "cool" things may not seem so cool to Western audiences, some certainly do. Core Connect is very much like the STEAM community, linking players and friends across multiple games, with mail, a "closed-circuit" social media system, as well as who's online across all PW games, and a pretty neat "achievements" token/trade system, that lets you earn reward points for unlocking various ingame acheivements in PW games, and then you can turn around and use those points to buy special ittems for your favourite PW game(s). (want that special item for Champions? why not play a little Star Trek Online to rack up those tokens?)

I don't play these games and won't as they just don't appeal to me I tried STO and hated it so what cool new things do I get. I don't use steam either as I have many ways to talk to my friends online and don't need another.

I can still list many things I'm losing that I will miss like my forum name, long running posts and avatars.

Oh and there is no real core connect content made yet so even if I wanted to use it in the way you mentioned I couldn't and the rate things we want in this game are developed we will get this SOON.

Oh and podsix I'm all for change I just wish it had benefits for me as a CO gamer and forum user rather than saving PWE money on running Cryptic games.

Here is the thing I don't understand. Forum goers aside since they represent the small minority. What happens come a Tuesday when everything is fine and dandy and then comes Wednesday when a massive amount people are blocked because they cannot log in to the game and then they can't even log into the forums to redress any issues because of this wonderful region block and account merging. HEY MY CRYPTIC LOGIN DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE.

Are you guys planning to send out any type of notifications to you know, address the actual issue. Or do you not give a crap anymore.

Yeah I know, clearly they don't care about this game.

Has anyone seen any of the region blocking stuff mentioned on the STO forums. They have a bigger player base, thought maybe it would be an issue there too. Or do they not know about it.

Same here, just ha my 48th birthday :o

My PWE Account is much older than my Cryptic, so i have no real problem with that, i'm only a little afraid
that my LTA may not work correct after the merging, thats why i've still not done it.
And of course no Custom Avatar in the Forums is really .. really bad :(

On the bright side, when Cryptic screwed the pooch with account security and I had to use the links Cryptic provided to have a temporary password sent to me I was screwed because they sent it to the email address that was used to open the account and I had closed it out. To get help for this I had to log on to Cryptic's support page which required my user id and the password that was sent to the closed out email account.

Yeah, who thought that up: If you can log in, log in and we can help you.

It was the customer support at PW that eventually got me connected back to my account.

Hopefully they can fix the current problem. I dont care much about my forum name but when I log in and all my heroes are gone and I am sitting there as a silver instead of a LT'er... that dog dont hunt.

After a total forum reset where some valued members of the community are not going to bother to come back, it's going to be a much less useful resource for players.

Which means the game now has that much less value.

Really, the whole region banning thing constitutes breach of contract with lifetime subscribers. Either grandfather in current LTS people or give them a full refund. This looks very, very bad, guys.

And yes, I am the one who keeps telling people not to be negative. But sometimes there is just no upside.

If I already had a PWE acc and a Cryptic one, and just linked both through PWE login (it says they're integrated), am I done for the changes to come? Will I have any issues regarding this handle/name stuff?

Okay, let me get this straight -

You created your account here, specifying that all emails would be sent to a given email address.

You then closed out that email account, but at no time did you log into your My Account page at the Cryptic website and change the old email to a new one.

And it's their fault that the email went to the wrong address?? When, exactly, did you get the impression that Cryptic's CS team employed telepaths and/or clairvoyants?

I mean, honestly, there have been enough missteps around this whole "integration" mess. There's really no need to make up new issues to complain about...

    What's your excuse?

    Critical thinking.
    stjobe wrote:
No, the problem is that it's ONLY good for PWE. For us, the CO players and community, it's BAD.

I understand perfectly well why they do it, I just don't agree with the cost of it, since none of that cost is paid by PWE, it's all on our shoulders.

THEY get all the benefits, and WE shoulder all the cost in a destroyed community, lost community functionality, lost community works, lost community members and so on.

Three years and counting have I personally been a member of this community, and I didn't join in until the game had released. More than three years of hard community work is being thrown by the wayside, non-searchable and attributed to "Archived Post". And while I've not contributed much of anything of that, I still see it as a slap in the face of those who did.

As for you laundry list of what we gain, someone else posted a laundry list of what we lose - that list is longer, and it doesn't even mention all the community resources built and maintained by the hard work of the community.

It's a perfectly understandable process if you look at it from the perspective of the faceless corporation. From the perspective of a community member that's hours away from seeing our community destroyed, it's a dick move, and perhaps an unforgivable one. I've not made up my mind on that yet.

I'll still be playing CO, but whether I will continue to be a part of the forums remains to be seen.

    Pretty much,

And I agree with all of this, and consider it the crux of this issue. ALL of this, is for the benefit of PW at the expense of the community, and even of Cryptic to a certain extend, since the company's reputation is being dragged through the gutter as a result, and at least I believe, that this largely comes from PW itself and it was not (necessarily) Cryptic's idea.

PS: Haven't being able to read through the whole thread, since it apparently exploted since I last was able to read it last night. So sorry for anything I might have missed.

IF real investing in Mission Episodic content is added that would give some credence to more then maintenance mode.
ATARI could not provide the greater marketing budget or investments to grow on a great and fun concept improved by the COH 2nd gen Cryptic engine. As exhibited in Champions Cryptics MMO proving bed for what STO was built on... NWN is owned by Hasbro so its a legacy of ATARI with use of improved graphics and sound.. and they had ZINC organizing the next best cryptic thing to come along.

Hasbro retains rights to Neverwinter but Atari got development rights

I was thinking to myself that as my @handle is different for PWE I could put my Avatar into my signature so that people will know it's me.
Will I be able to do this with the new Signature?

Respecting people mad about account integration, my take on this subject is:

    1) About having to change account name I can see that for some is a critical issue but as a general thing is bearable. Same with not having custom avatars(I will miss mine and other really good from other players)

    2) The zone banning is bad, I can see why they want to enforce this but they are making the lamb of many players that invested money, time and spirit in the game before pwe announced the banning of some zones in the world. Remember, the same way we players think devs and other pwe employees are people who deserve respect, those players deserve at least the delicacy of the proper notice and compensation.

For those who has decided to quit, either voluntarely or victims of the zone ban, my best wishes, I hope in the future there will be a way to have them back. :(

It's THIS attitude that destroys communities, not the loss of old posts and avatars and a few name changes.

Don't pack up and leave the forums. None of us wants these changes. I doubt the folks at Cryptic wanted to force these changes on us either. But they're stuck. Corporate says "do" and they must. PW says "adapt" and we must.

The alternative is to destroy that most important thing, our community. For now, We can know each other by our signatures. Custom avatars are being lobbied for. All the old posts will be will be searchable for the information, and all the old posts that need to be maintained in the first post(s) can and will be remade. Those who lose their names, as frustrating as it is, will become known to us again quickly by their new names.

And those we lose due to PW's laundry list of "do not accept" countries.. we will sorely miss.

I never said that in the balance, this deal would be overall good for us. I said that there were SOME positives. But if you're a user of the STO forums, you'll know that after a week, things are back to about 75% of normal. A few of the names have changed a little, but for the most part, we're all in there again, building our postcounts, playing old and new forum games, and trying to keep our community alive.

Many people who are forced into a name change put their old name, joined-date, and old avatar in their signatures. and some have taken to actually working their old avatars, or images similar to them, into their new signatures that fit the new image size (500x100).

It's going to suck, especially as we wait for some people to come back, and make their new names known to us. And it won't be easy. But we can get through this if we stay together.

See I don't believe it's being shoved down their throats. Take a look at the runic games forums and how they are different forums than the rest of the PW stuff.

Also, other forums have the ability to have specific titles. I think the titles we have should remain, including those earned and lifetime.

Anyone from China, Hong Kong, Korea, Macao, Russia, Taiwan, or Vietnam will simply not be able to log in at all.

To the forums at first, and then to the game.

So far there has been no word about refunds for them, either -- regardless of whether they paid for a lifetime subscription or have a big CP balance or whatever.

I am become PWE, destroyer of communities.

I don't know if I will. I have my name, I just don't know if I have the energy when we lose so much so needlessly and capriciously. So off-handedly, like we're not worth anything.

Well take today, to sort of scope out any old threads you've created that you may want to recreate.. Tomorrow, when the site is down, bust open your image editor of choice and make us a new sig to know you by. And Friday, when all hell is breaking lose because many people didn't see this thread before the downtime.. you can kick back and join us in the forums, helping frantic people sort out the new stuff.

Be sure to go to the Core Connect site and stick your CO forum avatar into the user image there. Mine's already in there: http://core.perfectworld.com/u/podsix When people click your forum name and generic icon here, it will take them to that page.

Perhaps we will, but you are incorrect in saying that we must. It is very important to remember that this game, and these forums, are a pleasant pass-time for (most ?) of us. If the company that is taking our money goes out of its way to make them less pleasant for us, we do not have to adapt here. In any other area a service provider that went out of its way to actively lower the quality of its customers' experience there would be no doubt of the result.

When the statement can be made (as you did) that, "none," of the customers, "want these changes," it is very telling. These companies exist to serve their customers (making a profit in the process). If they make changes that their customer base doesnt like, it is not the customer base that is ruining the, "community," or whatever the customer base is called in a particular field, when the customers are driven away.

The alternative is to destroy that most important thing, our community. For now, We can know each other by our signatures. Custom avatars are being lobbied for. All the old posts will be will be searchable for the information, and all the old posts that need to be maintained in the first post(s) can and will be remade.

Are you sure that they will all be remade ? I mean PWE/Cryptic has told the people who put the guides and such together that their efforts are not acceptable. Perhaps someone who put the effort in will do so again. Perhaps someone else will take over for them. Who knows ?

Those who lose their names, as frustrating as it is, will become known to us again quickly by their new names.

And those we lose due to PW's laundry list of "do not accept" countries.. we will sorely miss.

I never said that in the balance, this deal would be overall good for us. I said that there were SOME positives.

I have yet to see any positive explained.

    Please, don't leave. :(

When customer, community members, what have you, must be begged to stay, there is a problem with the situation where they are leaving.

    Sorry sir/madame I just don't buy it.
