Neat Alien/Foreign Language Bind

I was thinking of a bind where the chat bubble says one thing (Alien/Foreign Language), the text chat says another (English Translation), and an emote is displayed. I came up with this:

bind (key) "playersay (Alien/Foriegn Phrase)$$em <(English Translation)>$$emote_notext (emote)"

playersay is a chat command that displays text in a chat bubble but not in text chat.
em is a chat command generally used for emotes, but if you enclose the text with a bracket of some type it displays the text in chat but not the speech bubble, which actually works out in this context.
emote_notext causes an emote to display without displaying in chat.

A Klingon example would be:
bind numpad1 "playersay Kahplah'! $$em <Success!>$$emote_notext cheer"

    Now if I could only figure out how to change the font to the Qularr one, all would be complete! ;)

    A friend (@CaptainHeroic) and I have a pair of standard alien types (Grey and Gray).

    Using the Character Map, we came up with some nifty visual sayings paired with appropriate emotes.

    Everyone we encountered got a kick out this pair. We used AoPM to create a symbiotic link to each other. His char had higher Int, while mine had higher Pre. This pair was far and away our favorite concept RP characters on Champs.

    Cool! The problem with unicode characters is that bind files won't take them, as they only load in regular text .txt files, and won't accept unicode type txt files. You can however put unicode characters in binds as long as its not put into a bind file.

    The binds I created, basically behave exactly the same as alien speak in the game, in that the Chat bubble displays the alien text, while the chat text displays the translation, so have at it. :)

    BTW, I found from going through recorded demo files that the font for Qularr text is called Qularr. I wonder why the devs have prevented us from it so far? Hopefully, they'll give us access when they start working on their space content :D

    -points a finger- It was YOU TWO that I saw back last Bloodmoon! (yes, it was that cool I still remember it to this day)

    You would throw down the circles, and in your alien speak would say something like "Crop circle Alpha!"

    Man, i love the creativity of this community sometimes ^^

    Since, I couldn't find any official languages (or access to the alien fonts in-game). I went with on my Roin'esh shapeshifter:

    Xenovore = "Tk tk tk..."
    Ackalian = Yautja language
    Varyani = Vulcan language

    But I'm stuck for a language for Denebian (alien turtle) and the Roin'esh. Any suggestions? Please my fellow Sci-Fi geeks, I could really use the help! Any work arounds for alien type text would be neat and appreciated as well. :biggrin:

    I'm this close || to making the Denebian speak in surf slang...no one wants that comming from a Haole. \m/

    Ever played Star Control 2?
    I recall that game having a race whose language wouldn't translate properly and they had some awesome dialogue!

    Oooooh! That'd be sweet! If anyone ever figures this out or they change it so you can, please do share, it would be a blast (especially going up to a newbie and just start doing it hehe, confuse the heck out of them).
