I run a private RP channel, with that comes questions. Often I get, whats a good RPSG for my X?
Honestly, I dont even know anymore. SGs have become strange and foreign to me, really.
I think Role-Play Super Groups need to answer some basic questions for weary players.
Questions like:
What does your super group offer that you cant get from sheer independence?
Do members communicate? Strangely enough, members should talk to each other. If you go multiple logins without speaking to anyone, why did you join?
Does it offer a focus, an overarching mission and purpose for the group's existence? Or does it exist as a platform so one person can just blab and feel important, so that a chosen sect can spectate on an influential "exciting" players actions?
Does it offer camaraderie? Logging in to hear griping is never encouraging. Also, group members should strive to get along, if not going back to being an independent might be a better solution
Is your group restrictive? We dont allow type X and Z but Y, which is related, is A-okay. (ex. we dont like vampires, werewolves, and demons, but ½ vampires, other weres and demons, succubi and futa are okay)
Hating on players because they want to play something they are passionate about only serves to encourage poor word of mouth for your super group and they probably dont want to join your little band of merry folk with an alt, either.
In the opinion of this writer which shall not change, anyone who engages in this level of splitting hair hypocrisy is obviously a godmoder who needs to keep to themselves like the trolls they are.
How does your group handle combat, Game mastering? PVP? Third-party roles with rules sets? Ive heard of a lot of role-playing super groups using their core concept to brow beat others. I.E., Side A uses magic, so, Side B, your tech, so Side B has no chance of winning according to Side A. See above for my feelings on that.
How does your group appear to others? If your members stand around all silent and looking to be or appear imposing and such, it doesnt make people want to join. Also if your group cant acknowledge other role players in a given area, you look cliquish and even worse, elitist.
What is the point to the leadership and rank inside a SG? Does it serve a purpose? Or is it just used it to throw a player's weight around? Is it used to help others or just a small, little circle of friends inside of the SG when they come on?
Final thought, let people RP what they love because thats the type of player who sticks around instead of alting when they are feeling that particular avatar.

Your fifth line of questions, I had to experience myself. It's strange though...the group I was interested in was prejudice against my legacy character, Pureblood Asuya and expected me to put my childhood character in their group instead...when they broke their own rules of no demons/vampires/werewolves. Thus making your sixth line under the questions, valid...this is a good post.
I would also add..Looking at an Sg and then seeing one thing wtihout knowing the people and judgeing them badly when you see something that you don't like dosen't mean that rumors or whatever is needed..It is best to get to know the people then judge don't look and then judge.
