Putting together a new RPSG

I'm looking for a few good men... or women... or robots... or mutants... or aliens...

Good characters and good storytelling are the name of the game here.

Also: Fun. Serious characters are welcome and encouraged, but a good sense of humor is a definite bonus.

We don't have a name yet, but we're looking to assemble something along the lines of a team of superheroes to battle villainy. On that note: if you have villain characters, or at least some concepts for villain characters, that would be a bonus, too. Heroes need villains, after all. :D

Again: the bottom line is having fun and telling stories. If this is up your ally, feel free to reply on this forum or contact me in the game @Geigertron

-Your Friendly Neighborhood Geigertron

Could you please break up the above story into paragraphs? It would be a lot easier to read, thanks.

Also Geiger's a fun and helpful guy and a fellow Canucklehead. Well worth joining up with.

I happen to be extremely interested since you said villains. I'm *very very* good at playing villains, but no group I've been in has been keen on it.

Question, is this supergroup just going to be used by the officers to advertise spectacles though which their characters are able to experience character development while everybody else is expected to grab popcorn, sit back, and watch rather than participate?

Or in fewer words, is this RP group participatory for non-officers?

Also, are there any standards? Are you going to allow all powerful deities as characters? Are you going to allow a dozen characters, all of whom claim to be Dr Destroyer's sole child? Assuming you allow only one sole child of Dr Destroyer, who gets to be that? And how do you intend on handling it if there ends up being an RP event that multiple RP groups gather and at least one other has a sole child of Dr Destroyer? Are super powered child or teen characters allowed if they're roleplayed in a tasteful fashion?

I've noticed that most roleplayers try to inject dramatic tension into scenes. This tends to carry over into their relations with other players (not other characters, the players) where they inject drama into everything. How are you going to handle it if one roleplayer says something that is not in itself an offensive remark but it offends another roleplayer and that other roleplayer gets bent out of shape over it? For example, if one player says "I like bacon cheeseburgers" and there's somebody that's a member of a religion or belief system that finds the consumption of either bacon, cows, cheese on meat, or just meat in general to be offensive, and they get bent out of shape over the very idea of a bacon cheeseburger?

I'm sorry to ask so many questions but I've run into these and similar issues in other RP groups and frankly I'm sick of having to quit because I get sick of people acting like spoiled children or trying to be the center of attention.

I was looking for an RPSG where I could fit my main character: Tyrant (who is a villain). I'm an RP noob, both in the classic pen and paper games as in the MMO setting. I would very much appreciate if I could somehow contribute to this group and, hopefully, learn how to RP aswell.

    (Everything)

I've RP'd with this dude, haven't got the impression that any of that would be going on. I know where you're coming from. Geigertron's genuinely fun to RP around.

Back to the original post, I'm interested. Depends on the overall theme and such, but I'd probably be throwing Counterstrike into the lot, if you'll have me.

Heh... sorry for the late response. I've actually been having second thoughts about forming a new group now. Having fun as a free agent. :D

But there does seem to be some interest here, so who knows?

Again: you can contact me in-game @Geigertron

I've been looking for a new RPSG as well, and would be happy to come in with one or two of my characters if you'd have me. I've only rp'ed two seperate times in this game but they were a lot of fun. I only have one question, is this group going to be roleplaying in a "posting order"?

My first RP experience in this game was in a group of 5 or so that just sort of went with the flow of things. It worked out very well. My second group revolved around a posting order, where each person could only speak or act on their turn. This completely killed it for me and I'd rather not do that again.

Going with the flow works well in most situations, so long as one person isn't trying to dominate the scene. However, if it's a scenario with, say, a lot of heroes fighting one or two villains, it's usually best to go to a turn-based system, or else it becomes chaotic and some people's actions are lost in the shuffle.
