Hotkey to Change Roles without Changing Builds

I'm looking for a way with a hotkey / bind to change Roles (Avenger, Guardian, etc) without having to change Builds. I know we change them from the drop down menu under the Champion Information menu but I'm looking for something a bit quicker.

So far my searches have been less than fruitful as it seems "Role" and "Build" are treated as the same thing by many posters and, occasionally it seems, by Cryptic.

    I've kept doing searches and keep coming up empty handed. There seem to be some things you can with bindings and Builds but have yet to run across something specific to Roles beyond pulling up the window.

    Did Cryptic not add anything bindable for Roles?

    Would love to hear from a CM if I'm engaging in a wild goose chase.

    It is disadvantageous to change roles independently of build as in most cases you lose your passive.

    Surely you can just have 2 builds the way you want and switch between them?

    Changing Builds requires changing costumes. Many times all I want to do is change Roles. (All Passives work in at least two roles.) But using a Build change triggers the costume change CD. While changing Roles also triggers the costume change CD you haven't been forced to change costumes so no big deal.

    I usually use Builds when I want a specific costume change for a specific Role and Passive. (Yes, I have characters that have more than one Passive.)

    So, back to my question, is it even possible to hotkey Role changes without changing Builds?

    Changing builds does *NOT* necessarily change your costume - if you change your build manually but not the costume, it retains that association. I have a character who makes use of just such a keybind yet retains their costume across 2 builds...

    Hmm... I think you're confusing Builds (which are in the little boxes next to where the Passives appear under hotkeys F6, F7, etc) and Roles (Avenger, Guardian, etc) which can be selected from the Build screen's drop down menu.

    However, if I'm mistaken and you know of a bind / hotkey to change JUST the Roles please do share. :)

    You change your BUILD, and assign that build the costume and role you want. Then, you can change between BUILDs as needed, with the only difference being that one is in role A and the other is in role B. AFAIK, there is no hotkey to change just the role, which is why this is how I had to do it...

    I have characters with multiple costumes, any of which may be on at any moment. So let's say I'm doing "X" and decide instead of Avenger I want to switch to Guardian. If I'm using Build 1 as Avenger and Build 2 as Guardian the odds both Builds have identical costumes is near zero.

    What I would like to do is find out if there is a way to create a bind (or macro) that lets me stay in the same Build but change Roles without having to resort to accessing the Build screen and using the drop-down menu.

    I appreciate your input but what you're proposing doesn't resolve my question.

    There's no bind command, AFAIK, that changes your role. You could always have a bind to change costume and a bind to change build, then use the build one followed by the costume one, though...
