There are no patch notes for this update. There will be another patch sometime this weekend to unlock the King of the Hill PvP map once again. That patch will also remove the blue/red ring FX in team-based PvP maps.

Hopefully circles have only been removed in preperation for a full-scale roll out in which they are added to PvE teams as well!

I don't see how you could say no to the targeting improvement provided by them.

I won't have them unless they completely cover our toons in a red blinking light with cross-hairs!
Even better: remove the toons and leave a colored box of the corresponding team color.
I also suggest removing the tells from the enemies, to reduce the screen clutter!

That is precisely what you're missing. They were ugly, intrusive, and an additional layer of visual clutter that no one asked for.
