Ellie will not move in Mommy Severest

So I've been playing aftershock. When I get to the Mommy Severest quest line, I am standing beside Ellie, and calling her in local chat, and sometimes she moves and sometimes not. I don't care about finishing the quest i just want her to move so that she can get caught and I can move on with the game.

To get her to move, I have to log out, wait for that level to reset, and go through the whole thing again just to get to that quest and hope that she does not just sit there where i call her.

When it works, I just say her name, and she moves. When it does not work, i say her name, and she sits there, then after a certain time she may stand up as if to move, but it looks like she is stuck. On one occasion..when she appeared to be stuck, I got her to move twice. How? I have no idea.

This is a real pain the A@@.

Anyone have any ideas?

Ellie vanishes when her mother gets too close, and can't be called to head to the next hiding spot when she's in an invisible state. She'll only reappear (and thus, be callable again) after her mother's back is turned for a while.

Just keep an eye on Ellie's visibility, and be sure to keep her mom targeted at all times so that the outline reticle will show up. That way, you can see where she is even when she's behind a chair or table or flying buttress. :P

Thanks for the quick reply. Yeah, i know she cant move when incorporeal, but when i call her,and I can do it over and over gain, she just doesn't move. Just now I went in the game, let the level reset, went all the way to that quest, got her to move twice, no problem whatsoever, and then that was it. She just wont budge at all.

I can call her, her mom is away, she is solid, the moon is in the seventh house and Jupiter is aligned with mars, ect ect but she will not move.

I wish there was a way to just skip this thing. Like a, "You pop a cap in her mom" option.

This is a bug that I have encountered several times now.

This is just an example of "bad mechanic is bad" the idea is cool, and on paper it's awesome, but in most cases when something like this is put in it's just not fun. The one exception I can think of being the old pet command/teaching system in SWG. The way that worked was awesome. Ellie on the other hand needs to just move on her own and you can distract the mom by throwing/destroying objects or something. You know, since you're invisible to her and she kind of thinks you're a ghost already. When the mechanic for distracting her actually works anyway.

I completely agree. It takes the fun out of the game, as I cannot get past this one point. If it was because I was not skilled enough, that is one thing, but because of a bug? Ergh. Cryptic PLEASE FIX, you will make me happy. :D

If you can handle an extra villain spawn in the fight against Nocturne, just feed Ellie to her mom in the first room and you can complete the mission faster. There's no penalty.

The extra villains are nothing. Like I said in my first post, I would let her get caught, if I could get Eillie to move. But she doesn't. That is the problem. I just tried again this morning, and sure enough, she wont move, i can call and call and call, nothing.

I think this quest is permanently bugged for me now. I've gone back three times this morning and I cannot get Ellie to move at all.

This happened a lot after KS2. A suggestion someone posted which sounds good ( because it worked for me in Other NPC-stuck scenarios I've seen is to destroy the chair she's hiding behind at the very beginning.
NPC's often get stuck on pebbles or invisible walls. Sometimes it helps when I destroy everything in the vicinity, sometimes it doesn't.
Also, not for Ellie but for other escorts the NPC might stop in reaction to enemies that are nowhere near it. Kill everything around. It MIGHT help.

Just tried that suggestion, nothing works. I destroyed everything first, but she just sits there. Ellie is perma stuck for me and I cannot complete Aftershock at all. This sucks big time.

I've put a support ticket in but I've not heard back yet. I'll keep this post updated as to any progress.

OK so this is weird. I just did the quest again, and this time I typed "Miellie" and she moved every time. Funny things is is that she says "Mommy says daddy has a disease. I don't want to get sick like that." every time.

    Anyone else had this experience?

Make sure you're standing right next to her when you call, and not next to where you want her to run to.

And just a brain check, but the command is just to say:

    ellie

    In local.

You want to know why she won't move when you call her? Because she knows you want her mom to catch her. Dohohohoho

Really though, listen to what other people are saying in here. By the way, you can also call her by using the name her mother refers to her by; Elspeth. She seems more responsive to it, even if she doesn't like you using it.

Yeah probably. She knows I just want her to get caught...

I appreciate people trying to be helpful. Let me go through what I'm doing again so as to clear up any misunderstandings.

I stand beside Eillie [yes, right beside her]

I wait for her mom to go by, her back is turned, she is far away.

    Eillie is solid

I type Eillie in local chat.

She does not move. [Sometimes she will stand as if to move, but freezes, her mom comes round, and she cowers again]

Like I noted previously, this time I typed Meillie in local chat and she moved, when she would not move when I typed eillie [in the same session]. Will that work next time? I don't know. Whether or not this quest works appears to be random and unpredictable. Needless to say that makes for frustrating gaming.

This is not an error on my part, this is a bug. Plain and simple. It is nothing I can do, it must be fixed. Preferably it should be changed.

If you made the typo three times in the same post, there is indeed a possibility that you're making the same typo in game.

A tip: You only have to type her name once.

The next time you want to call her, hit enter to open the chat box, then shift+up arrow to get to the last said chat line, and hit enter again to say it.

That way you only need to worry about the spelling once.

To echo Veruca, if you're spelling her name Eillie she won't move. She answers to Ellie.

I setup a key bind to just spam it when i run that part it's easier.

Thanks guys, that was it. LOL, I could swear there it was eillie. I guess the bug was in my head

She seems to also respond to mellie as well.

As for you little Ellie, buwaaaah ahahahah!

Anything with Ellie in it should get her to move. I think one of my characters has a bind that says "Dammit Ellie! Die already!"

I generally save Korvac and feed Ellie to her mom. The only reason for this is that Korvac takes a while to die even if you ignore him, whereas Ellie can be conveniently ditched first thing.

Maybe there should be a second pop-up under "enter ellie/korvac's nightmare" that says "screw them, lets get on with this."
