New Player, looking for an RP SG

Let me start by saying I am completely new to roleplaying in an MMO. I've always been a really competitive sort of player, leaning toward PvP and whatnot. However, I have some free time over the summer and genuinely enjoy writing posts that could be seen as RP-relevant. I'm fairly new to Champions, but based on the character design process, I feel this game encourages RP, so this seemed the appropriate place to try it.

(I found many of the super-groups had a fairly strict theme, so I figured I'd lay out my character's details and let one of the approving parties find me. If it seems a good fit, I'd be happy to apply. I don't want to present a character inappropriate to any group's defined concepts.)

-Ratjackal-
  • Bio:
The Qliphotic realm is one comprised of intrigue as much as it is horror, and thus there is no shortage of over-confident sorcerers and magi seeking to conquer its mysteries. One such wizard, a scholarly gentleman known to his brotherhood as Dr. Archilius, sought to open a portal to the Qliphotic realm and retrieve biological specimens for his forbidden, mystical research which he anticipated to be of tremendous benefit to wizard sects across the world. Archilius' endeavor was dangerous, but proved to be far more fruitful than even he could have anticipated.

The creature he summoned forth was not the massive beast he was prepared to confront, but a smaller, younger creature that clearly meant the doctor no harm, and in fact seemed to be happy to be free of the Qliphotic realm. Placing his dissecting tools aside, Dr. Archilius proceeded to befriend the creature which he later named the Ratjackal. Ratjackal fully understands the English language, and speaks it with passable success. He was able to adapt quickly to the human world under Archilius' care and , over time, the doctor taught Ratjackal to understand much of this foreign environment and was able to employ his pet's unique strengths.

As he studied Ratjackal, or RJ, Dr. Archilius determined that, based on RJ's complex social habits, he came from a tribal group of similar beings that somehow thrived in the dangerous Qliphotic realm. Archilius reasoned that, among his people, RJ was most likely a hunter or warrior, as was suggested by his tremendous strength and near invulnerability. He noted further defining characteristics: Ratjackal was all but entirely mute, scarcely producing any noise at all, but possessed the articulation to communicate much through action and gesture. In addition, RJ had a ferocious appetite and Archilius found himself feeding his personal bodyguard no less than twenty-thousand calories a day.

Unfortunately, during the Qular attack on Millennium City, Archilius' underground lab was among the many sites destroyed by the rampaging invaders. In his final moments, before his death at the hands of the Qular, Archilius sent Ratjackal to ground zero of the invasion, instructing his loyal servant to aid the champions of Millennium city in any way he could. He was further instructed to seek out UNTIL or related agencies who had dealings with the Qliphotic realm, and may have the means to manage Ratjackal, and put him to service.

In RJ's possession is a tome containing the late doctor's research findings, culminated across decades of mysticism and super science. Needless to say, the brilliance of these records is lost on their illiterate carrier.
  • Physical Description:
Excerpt from the Research of Dr. Nigel Archilius, Scholar of Inter-Dimensional Studies

It was a stunning, and truly unforgettable instant; One which I fear I shall struggle to indicate the raw intensity of. I stood at the ready, today, with eight of my apprentices on hand. Our inter-dimensional gate surged and warped the room in its typical manner, indicating today's ritual would proceed without incident. I have no words to express my shock, and general relief, when no Qliphotic beast I had ever discovered came forth, but rather a truly remarkable being!

Before me is now a small, lithe, specimen, defined by what appears to be tremendously dense muscle fiber. Based on his limited clothing, mostly leather straps, I strongly suspect him to be male. However, I have chosen to make no invasion of his personal space to confirm this assumption and will proceed on the basis of probability for safety purposes.. He is well-mannered, and surprisingly happy to see me, though he has not spoken a word. His skin is a very light blue, similarly pale to other denizens of the Qliphotic realm. I am curious as to whether or not this being has had much, if any sun exposure.

After examining him for a brief time, I offered to return him. He rejected the offer with his first real sound: Desperate whimpering. Clearly his world is an unforgiving place, and I find his readiness to abandon his home realm remarkable. I question whether or not he has visited our world before. Who am I to turn him away? It is every bit my intent to take this one into my care.

Physically, he is truly a magnificent creature. He possesses a physical strength that I have never seen in a being of such insignificant stature, as he scarcely exceeds 130 pounds. I suspect him to be no stranger to battle, and perhaps I can find suitable purpose for this creature. I have chosen to name him Ratjackal. It was not my first choice,as I believe my apprentice Willard chose the same name for his cat, but it was the only bestial name he seemed to approve of.

-Dr. Nigel Archilius, Master of Mysticism

P.S. - I will need to consider alternative means of feeding RJ. Within three hours of his arrival, he has eaten all of the food we provided him with, my lunch, and the lunch of all eight of my lab assistants. He still appears to be hungry.

Excellent story, if you have interest in Silver and Bronze age style Role-playing [your character is a classic Bronze age style hero, much like Diamon Hellstrom, the Son of Satan and Ghost Rider from Marvel Comics], I imagine you'd greatly enjoy our group.

We focus on a lighter style of Role-playing than typical, perfect for RP newbies to get their feet wet. Links to our recruitment thread as well as our website are in my sig, here you are again.

Rune is a good guy. I would check them out. Feel free to check out the Ultimate Guardians as well. We're pretty more lax in concept than other SG's as long as your toon upholds to SIlver-Age ideals (e.g., no killing). We also have periodic combat training sessions where can RP fighting each other. If you think we're a fit, we hope to see you!

PS: And we catch each other online, let's hit up the pvp maps together. I'm one of the strange RPers that enjoy pvp or vice versa.
