Hey everyone! Madame Butterfly here! What I don't get, nor do I understand those that feel the need to spam and troll!! Really people, whats the deal? When we are in Club Caprice we are there to meet friends and Role play. Please, We beg you. Stop the spamming and the trolling..Its stupid, childish and it ruins the experience for the rest of us that want to have fun and enjoy the role play. I'm not saying that you can't have fun and enjoy yourselves, but when you are grieving players like myself who just want to play the character that I want to play, and enjoy the time online with my friends, you are not being fair at all...Time and place people, really...

People are *******s, this is not new. The reason it's so prevalent on the internet is simple. You can not get punched in the face online.
My solution is simple. I report and ignore them. I have a zero tolerance policy for trolls and so should everyone else. if someone negatively impacts my leisure time, I remove them from it.
Trying to appeal to these people will not work. Trolls are not ignorant, they know very well that they are annoying, that they are ruining your fun. That is what they want to do, they can not be reasoned with. They are childish, annoying and pathetic, but telling them that will do exactly nothing.
Ignoring them is the only solution, reporting them will contribute to them eventually being banned, I encourage everyone to not simply hit ignore, but choose to report as well. In order to create an environment everyone can enjoy, we need to weed out the bad elements.

Pretty much this. The longer you pay attention to a troll, the more likely they'll stick around to annoy you. If you leave them alone, say nothing and ignore them, they'll get bored and run off to annoy someone else or simply leave.
I actually left Zone Chat Channel today after listening to everyone complain about this, and that not working properly after the patch. I guess they expect everything to work perfectly, 100% of the time. Even if it did, im sure they would find something else to complain about. The ability to ignore might just be the best thing ever in this, and every other MMO.

I don't think players talking about valid problems in a constructive manner should be viewed as trolls. If I'm wrong then feel free to IGNORE this statement.
Oh, thanks a LOT! With that single webcomic link, you made me do the same thing that's happened with every other webcomic I've never read: Waste several hours of my life to read the entire comic series. BACKWARDS.

You should look up the definition of a troll before posting such nonsense. Complaining about huge issues sure can get annoying at a point so tada! press ignore <outoftopic> but this game is so buggy atm it is not even worth half of the monthly 15 bucks so don't wonder about the many zone complains</outoftopic>.
My solution is simple. I report and ignore them. I have a zero tolerance policy for trolls and so should everyone else. if someone negatively impacts my leisure time, I remove them from it.
I certainly hope you don't have an itchy trigger finger on that. I've been reported and have permanent marks for trolling in the past when I did nothing of the sort. I was simply disagreeing with the person, using a modicum of sarcasm to try to point out the absurdity that I saw in what they were saying, and they decided to report me for it. I was not even uncivil in the way I did so.
I for one make it a habit to not add anyone to ignore or report unless they are being directly and openly hostile, or soliciting. This is because I know that sometimes people have bad days and they just feel grumpy and say things they don't mean, or say them more harshly than they intended. The only non-solicitor on my ignore list was making extremely sexist comments. The kind of comments that go beyond misogyny and straight into outright venom filled hatred of women. As in I serious fear for the lives of any women that are associated with the person in the real world. It was seriously that bad. Suffice to say I also reported the person.
Adding people to ignore and reporting them is easy. Putting up with them and giving them the benefit of the doubt is hard.

True. And with the real, squishy people you meet in the real world? It's often worth making the effort.
For annoying players of an MMO that you'll never meet? Well, it's your call as to whether it's worth it or not. But for me gametime is rare and precious, squeezed in among all the other clutter of life, and frankly I don't have the time or inclination to put up with much at all.
well i don't know about you guys, but my super group, the ultimate toxic avengers, have a very good time while they are playing, isn't that after all the point of a game?
well i don't know about you guys, but my super group, the ultimate toxic avengers, have a very good time while they are playing, isn't that after all the point of a game?
Only so long as your "very good time" isn't negatively impacting other players very good time.
I mean you have got to come onto this game expecting trolls. Expecting kids to come on here and screw with people just for the sake of screwing with people. It happens. The other day, I was exploring the city because I'm new. I went to Champions HQ and ran through it with my acrobatics. I jumped into a room and landed right in front of the leader of a SG hosting a meeting. I was accused of being a troll for doing this although it was purely unintentional.
Another time I was accused of being a troll for dancing at club caprice in front of a group of people who were apparently RPing...wtf? Couldn't read what they were saying (must have been SG chat or team chat), didn't realize they were RPing, didn't mean to offend.
Truth be told, people need to just ignore it and/or realize that half the time you're not trying troll. Obviously there are people out there that DO intentionally troll people in which case, you have got to just let it go. Understand that you are in a game where people are NOT going to take it seriously. Don't get all offended because not everyone takes the game seriously.
I love to RP in the game. In fact, I do it on a daily basis. When people come up to annoy me and someone I'm RPing with, I just ignore them and move on. I don't whine about people not taking the game seriously. To me, that's like going into a room of 2nd graders and expecting them all to be mature and well behaved. Sure, some of them will be, but a majority of them won't. Just gotta learn to accept it, not kick them out of the classroom entirely.

And all of that would be great, make perfect sense, but for the fact that there is an age barrier to this game, signed by the Terms of Service, so I can expect the basic sense of decency that someone who has gone to middle school is taught, that is, simple good manners.
A second grader with no training in manners isn't allowed to play the game unmoderated.

To tell you the truth, I think it would be ridiculous to accuse someone of trolling for things like what you've mentioned here. I mean, I respect roleplay, but give me a break. Dancing in Club Caprice, the place with all the lights, music, and huge dance floor, is trolling?
What's next, RPing in the Powerhouse and griping about all the "trolls" who come in and punch the training dummies in front of them?
That having been said, there are people who just very deliberately poison the atmosphere of the game and try to ruin another person's good time, and there are those who cross the line into TOS violations and/or outright harassment. Those are the kind I would ignore/report.
That's what I'm saying. While there are people who DO deliberately try to poison the atmosphere, a lot of people are just playing the game just to play it. And a lot of others RP on it. But the game isn't ONLY for RPers and it is not ONLY for hardcore gamers. So you don't need to be whiny when you see someone playing in a style you don't agree with in the game. It's like just get over it.
Someone told me once in game that if I kept talking out of character then people would think I'm a bad roleplayer. Uh, first of all, I don't care what people on a MMORPG think of me lol. I RP with who I want to RP with and if they RP back and there's a fun storyline there then they become my RP buddy. If I don't feel like RPing then I don't. People have got to realize that it's okay to break character sometimes. And I generally ALWAYS indicate when and when I am not being in character. So to judge me because I don't RP 24/7 is a poor use of your brain power, seriously.
I mean, again, I maintain that if you want to have serious RPs, don't go to places like Caprice which is KNOWN for trolls. And on the flip side, understand that not everyone plays the same way as you and so there are some people who come onto the game as casual players or just goofy kids (kids I mean 15 year old boys who think it's funny to do /em repair on a girl when they're not looking).
Crazy_pan, you speak words of wisdom, in my humble opinion, but instead of saying them like a philosopher or poet, you come across a bit like an angry kid.
I too have no issue with breaking character and going OOC, often to clarify a plot point to ultimately enhance a scene, sometimes just to laugh OOCly, and I don't really love playing with people who are ultra serious "Onstage 24/7" role-players. But I don't belittle them either, as once I was one of them, and I just leave them to enjoy the game the way they like it, same as I leave non-role-players alone too. It's a big game, room for all of us!
I suspect with the addition of Hideouts, a lot of serious RP is going to be moving out of those publically trollable venues anyway.
well i don't know about you guys, but my super group, the ultimate toxic avengers, have a very good time while they are playing, isn't that after all the point of a game?
You guys are gold. I love you so much.
You have personality, pizzzaz, and all that jazz.
Compared to you 99% the RPers are already dead.
I mean, again, I maintain that if you want to have serious RPs, don't go to places like Caprice which is KNOWN for trolls.
Alright, since a number of post mention not going to Club Caprice to RP, I think it's fair to ask, where should someone go to meet new people t RP with? Champions HQ? The Powerhouse? maybe the Bank?
not trying to be snooty here, but speaking as a new player, Club Caprice seems to have been obviously created for RPers, and therefore it's perfectly fair for the level of tolerance of non-rp behavior, let alone disruptive behavior, to be set at or near zero.
Frankly, IMHO the very act of entering Club Caprice without the intention of RPing, let alone with a char named something like "My_Hottie_Toon," is trolling behavior. Since, besides RP there is NOTHING else to do in there.

You go there to meet friends and roleplay.. They go there to troll you.. You are two separate groups that find two separate things enjoyable. Not saying it's right to act like an ****, but they're going to. No amount of complaining is going to make any difference in the situation and you're not going to speak any 'reason' to them, that's trying to speak reason to someone that just doesn't care. Only thing you can do is really ignore them, you don't actually believe that reporting them is going to do any good do you? Because seven days ago I had a quest bug where a major crisis that I was doing tweaked out and the enemy managed to get inside of something where they shouldn't have been ( glitched into it ), they could attack me but I couldn't attack them and it took SEVEN DAYS for me to get a response from support which appeared roughly to be the type of response that someone whom had paid no attention to the problem and hadn't even read the ticket but simply vaguely skimmed it would respond with... So, yeah.. If you think that reporting them is going to help? Well... Whatever... I think you're better off just ignoring them, personally.
Some player wanted to a PVP match. Not a big deal, usually a "No, thanks" reply works. This person was insistant. My toon was around 10th, their toon around 20th. I did make the comment that it wouldn't even be a fair fight, and they should ask someone nearer their level. The person kept challenging, and said would continue until I said yes. I reported the jerk, copying everything that was written, and then advised I hope he likes being reported. I then hit "Ignore" and logged out, just to make sure.

Uh that's a bit over the top i go there to afk and just get away, i assume new people go in there just for a look, also anyone can visit Club caprice when ever they want to, if you consider this trolling then personally think your better off sticking to the pen & paper version there are no trolls there, but you.
Nothing else to do in Club Caprice but fail at RP?
You're joking right?
I've recruited several hundred super group members there in about 50 days for four different groups.
I never advertise in zone or forums.
I've danced with easily two hundred people, for hours on end until I'm drunk with hypnotic dance trance.
I try to get away and oops there's a new player needs assistance or a acceptance that could use a laugh.
I've teamed up and run off to missions with so many random noobs from the club that I can't even count them.
I've taught countless new players how to dance, walk, emote and get their media player working while on the dance floor or in a hall.
I've picked up dirty little cyber vixens by the handful and brought them home for debauchery.
Men? I may as well lay down carpet to my feet for them.
Nothing to do but RP?
I put all the RPers in club on ignore as soon as their text scrolls into view.
I seem to be able to find anything but RP to do in the club, imagine that.
