S.T.A.N.D (an SG for traditional heroes)

edited December 2011 in Supergroup Recruitment Station
Hi all,

S.T.A.N.D (Super Team Against Nefarious Dangers) is now recruiting.

We are a small, fun, RP group aimed for the more traditional heroes, who work closely with the Champions and various other agencies such as UNITY, PRIMUS and UNITL. We do have regular RP arcs and encourage others to join in or create their own.

We accept golden age/silver age heroes, aliens, robots, inventors, sorcerers and many others... we do not accept werewolves/vampires/demons, anti heroes or angels as there are plenty in game. We look for unique, fun and colourful personalities who look to do the right thing and are prepared to work as a team both in and out of character.

We also hold OOC/RP runs into the various instances and adventure packs. All our events are run within the GMT timezone as our primary players are all European though location of the player does not matter. Gold and Silver subscribers are both welcome.

Our players are experienced, friendly and helpful, we wish to keep the group friendly, we do not accept drama in this group of the OOC kind! We also have very strong rules on RP etiquette and do not have time for those that do not follow them.

If you are interested in joining the team please refer to the link and read the details and rules in the 'Apply to S.T.A.N.D' section before you decide to join us (registration will be required to do this):

www.standonline.co.uk

Alternatively please feel free to speak to myself (@Lightstarr) or one of the senior officers of the group in game, who's handle's are as follows:

@Lord-Novem
@Hellaid
@Omnicontroller
@psychicprime

Many thanks! :)

    When you say "more traditional" heroes, what are you referring to? I may have an alt (I also play a lot in GMT timezone - as I'm English) who could fit the group, but I'm looking for a little more info before I decide to apply. By traditional do you mean "Golden Age" or do you mean "Costumed Hero" or do you also have heroes out of spandex/capes like Luke Cage (a traditional hero in civilian clothes?)

    Hey there and thanks for reading the post!

    What we mean by traditional hero is more in the rp terms, how they act more than how they look. When we have rped with some other characters they either are a demon intent on gathering souls or seducing someone or a hero who isn't really a hero, they basically would be willing to kill for fun which isn't heroic.

    Your hero can basically have a secret identity if they wish, or not. My two toons in the group both don't hide their identity but thats for good reason :)

    We basically want to steer clear of the demons/angels/vampires etc as there are plenty of them ingame.

    Golden age heroes will be accepted as will costumed heroes with secret identites, infact it would be good to have a mix in our group.

    Please feel free to contact one of us ingame to hold a small RP session before making your decision.

    Thanks again for showing an interest! :)

    Ok thanks that clears it up a little :) I have a couple of toons who may be suitable, one is somewhat based on a mixture between Green Lantern/Blue Beetle/Flash, the other is a mixture between Hulk/Beast. RP wise they're both definately heroes in a traditional sense ie not killers, secret identities, morally "just." I guess it'd really be a toss up of whether you'd want more of a dashing costume crusader or a hulking ugly shambles with a heart of gold lol.

    Either sounds perfect... its entirely up to you... i have to say the hulk type character does sound very interesting!

    Just drop me a tell ingame or one of the officers and we'll be only to happy to organise an rp event on how we get to meet the character you choose! :)

    Thanks again for showing an interest and i look forward to hearing from you!

    Hey there! Thanks for showing an interest in STAND.

    This week I have half days on tuesday (afternoon) and wednesday (9am gmt - 2pm gmt) and I'm off all day Thursday and Friday so if you want to RP in your characters feel free to send me a message when I'm about.

    Don't forget to register with our forums first so you can have a quick look at our rules beforehand though.

    Hey, I'm interested in joining your SG. I live in America however due to work I'm up at strange hours and so I should be able to attend SG events. I can't seem to find the Apply section of your forums however so I can take a peek at your rules.

    I have two characters that are interested, however, I'd only want one of them to join.

    Starlancer: A latent psychic that was used as a test subject for VIper's Project Awakening. On of the experiments merged his mind with the remains of a Solarin, a powerful space dwelling entity that feeds on stars. This unlocked his psychic potential and turned him into a powerful telekinetic as well as opening his mind to both the wonders and the horrors of the universe.(Think Phoenix+Green Lantern). Though Starlancer tries to be light-hearted, it generally falls flat. You can tell that he believes the weight of the universe rests on his shoulders.

    Stormlocke:After a near fatal car accident, his mother sold her soul to the sorcerer Crossroad in exchange for her son's continued existence. Stormlocke now possesses supernatural luck that even has the power to bend reality to prevent him from dying. Though Stormlocke's weapons of choice are swords and guns, he does not use them to kill. Stormlocke is not aware of where his luck came from. As far as he is concerned, he's just really lucky. Stormlocke is very bold and borderline reckless. He is very sarcastic and even suffers from a mild hubris due to his luckiness.

    Both of these characters are traditional, tight-wearing heroes. If I had to choose, I'd prefer Stormlocke but I'm not sure how well a gun and sword wielding character with a supernatural background would fit in. I can assure you that there is no demons or angels in his backstory though as I a think there are far too many of them in CO as it is.

    Hey there, We recently made some changes to our forums so I think some of the permissions might have been reverted accidently. I've let Hellaid know about it so he can fix it for you ASAP.

    EDIT: Ok it's been fixed now, sorry about that.

    Either character sounds good. Don't worry about the supernatural aspect of Stormlocke we have a supernatural hero (2 I suppose if you count a mage) in our ranks. As light said we are more interested in wether or not they actually act heroic... if they are out to protect the innocent and would rather see villains go through the judicial system rather than appoint themselves as Judge Jury and Executioner in one then they have a place in STAND.

    Hi there, My apologies for the issues your having with the forums, it would appear I didn't have some of the settings put quite right for new registrations.

    I've taken a look and I have done what I can to fix what I believe the issue is, (I am assuming once you registered you couldn't see any board?)

    Hopefully this is resolved now and you should have access to our application section.

    If not let me know and I'll take a look

    P.S the rest of the board will not be accessible until one of the Senior Officers Invite you to join and I get round to adjusting your permissions.

    On a Similar Note, should any future applicants have any Issues with the forum please contact me directly ingame @helliad

    This SG sounds like exactly what I'm looking for on a new character I'm about to make. I'm going to make and play the character for a little bit just to see if it's a character I want to play, but if I do this is absolutely an SG I'll apply to.

    Hello folks, just want to say thanks for the RPed introduction to S.T.A.N.D. yesterday. Proud to now be a member and looking forward to seeing more of you all. It was the first time I've done real RPing in an MMO and I really enjoyed it. Certainly adds a much needed dimension to the game. Thanks for your patience throughout the session. ;-)
