I suppose this goes in this section as it is sort of part of the UI, but, your height chart is wrong based on the scales you used for the character height UI. Default Man is 6'0, and is nearly a half a foot taller than the 6' height on the chart.

I noticed that as well.
I specifically made Vitality 5'-11" with the height slider and I never touched the leg slider.
The new scale to the side lists Vitality at 6'-8".
So, unfortunately...as much as I wanted the new height scale...I just ignore it.
That may have to do with the leg length on the default man. Hard to tell, as I'm at work right now. Leg length being entirely independent of the height slider, if the default is above half for leg length, that could be it.
I imagine Tumerboy's got a hard-and-true measurement for what 1' is in the game world, so I'd wager that the character model is off.
There was a thread about this recently. Basically, the height of your character is not known. What is known is the individual scales of each bone as well as the size of the bone at the default scale (which can be used to get the length of the bone). The true height, the value you want to see, is based on the various bone scales and how the bone scales interact with the skeleton and a bunch of other stuff, and it's difficult to calculate the true height. The value you actually see on the slider is the value of the global scale slider (converted roughly into feet). It's pretty accurate if all other sliders are kept at the default I believe.
Tumerboy recently added a cleverly placed antenna in the background of the character creator which has notches on it every 6 inches, so you can eyeball how large your character is, so that might help you get a better idea of you character's height.
As it turns out, in a recent costume team meeting someone more knowledgeable than me figured out an alternative way to calculate height, so we might be able to get this fixed sometime in the nearish future.
I think you need to clarify. Are you talking about the ruler he placed on the columns in Ren Center by the tailors? Or the antenna in the Character Creator? Do the two show the same height for a given character?

Can you get him to slide the antenna over a bit...if you zoom in then out, it ends up not being visible anymore.
I am talking about the antenna in creation. A default male, with no changes period, is listed as 6'0 and I have based all of my character's heights on that for when I change leg length. I usually set my leg length for women to the lowest possible so it can be proportionally correct, and that is 8 inches shorter than the 6'0 of a default. I have a male character who is 6'0 based on the default man's 6'0 height, and he is is about 6.5 feet tall on the weather vane.
The default 6'0" male does stand about 1 or 2 inches higher than the 6th big peg. But again developers never really cared much for specific heights of their NPCs. We can all just agree that anything at the 6th peg is 6'0" and ignore the 6'0" label on height as well as any other labels are on it and that the highest height you can ever achieve is 8'6" not 8'0" :P

I think we should all agree that this is really a non-issue. Does a few inches here or there really matter on your digital person?
It is an "issue" because it WAS correct a few days back. So either all toons grew (which is possible I suppose) or the rulers & pole lowered down 1/2 foot and so they read 1/2 taller. So far all my toons are 1/2 "taller" than they were, so I would suspect it is the rulers/pole that got moved and not the toons got taller. I could be wrong.

When Tumerboy first posted about the antenna, he showed that maxing all the sliders made a character 8'2" tall. I got the same result when I tested a couple nights ago. What does it show now with all sliders maxed? (Body sliders. I don't think he maxed the head sliders.)

Still, i think the character grew, i went from a standard 5'7" to like 7'1", and trying to correct it was UGH a pain!. I finally got it back down decently but the slider measurement is way off. I messed with the leg length and I could blow the proportion all back out of standard again with it and I be this amazonian giant again.
Yeah I dont want to be this walking drink of water dears. I spend alot of time tweaking my Avatar's looks and I would much rather NOT have to redo them on a frequent basis.
The default leg length appears to be a bit long as it is.
From what I recall from my old art classes, the ballpark percentage of a standard male is heel-to-crotch is about equal to crotch-to-top. In other words, the crotch is the half-way point.
Meanwhile couple of slim toons I built had the leg length a bit on the long side, like crotch-to-top = crotch-to-shin.
When I shrunk the leg length to above the same proportions, the "height" seemed off. As I was above-average height (6'1") numerically but the same height as the male AND female civilian NPCs. Meanwhile I imagine males would be around 5'9" since the game takes place in the US.
I guess that's another ball of wax. Aren't women on average about 4"-6" shorter than men? Meanwhile the game appears to have civilians the same height.

Part of the same discussion was why all the NPCs were so damn tall. No good answer, but apparently it annoys the environment artists even more than the players.

It's not perfect, but it's better than the nothing we had before.
In that case, the rulers and the antenna are probably both correct. The height figure above the slider is what is wrong.

*giggles like a schoolboy*
What? We're switching to the metric system?
*places her hand over Gamma's Mouth* Bad boy ^~

No. There was a long discussion and explanation of why this is back when Tumerboy first put the antenna and pillar-ruler graphic in the game.

Except Microman.
