xbox controller

Well it looks like I'm going to have to buy an xbox controller. Are there any you guys recommend? I've been looking at Amazon and most of them seem to be six buttons for the PC, if they only have six buttons I'm not sure if its worth buying it (they're expensive). Can you get 8 buttons ones for the PC ie 4 buttons at the end of the gamepad?

If I buy an xbox controller are all powers and actions allocated to the gamepad by default?

    Xbox 360 wireless controller. In short...the only* reason I still play.

    Mine is just the standard Xbox 360 wireless controller w/ the wireless adapter for windows.

    I'm not sure what you mean about the 6 button or 8 button.

    How many buttons? Got four on the end? Know if it works with Vista?

    I think I'll stick wth wired though. Wireless is far too expensive.

    The wired controllers can be found used for about $23. (anything more is overpriced)

    Need confirmation for 3rd party (ie:Pelican) wired 360 controllers.

    i bought a logitech wired xbox360 joypad for only 16 bucks from target.
