"Sure, we're freaks. We've always been freaks. What, you think a normal person grows up to be a clown? And yeah, sure, sometimes people run screaming when they see us.

"But when things get real tough and the regular, clean-cut poster-boy heroes have run home to their mommas and are dancing the glass jaw chacha... That's when we step in in our giant red shoes.

"So say what you want, bub. When everyone else has let you down, we'll still be here for you. When the forces of evil are pounding you into the dirt.....

"Send in the Clowns."

Hi - I'm Issmir, founder of the Legion of Laughter and here to bring you news of this fine collection of crime-fighting funsters.

* The Legion: founded in the last few weeks of Closed Beta, the Legion of Laughter (LoL) sprang from a casual chat where the fateful words "it might be fun to have a small collection of clown superheroes" were uttered and a post was made about it on the forums. Interest spread remarkably quickly; within 24 hours we had 20 players expressing an interest. Within 48 hours it became necessary to think seriously about a dedicated web page and ventrillo server.
* The Players: Legion is a made of enthusiastic, friendly, mature people. We're roleplay friendly (though RP is by no means mandatory). We're PVP friendly (though PVP is no means mandatory). We love to team up and take down crime (ok, taking down crime is mandatory). We're not powergamers (but don't mind if you are) and our idea of a requirement to join a legion is that the character fits the theme somehow and that the player doesn't transform into The Incredible Griefer.
* The Clowns: Our clowns, fools, mimes, and carnival freaks of the legion are an extremely varied group. Our clowns don't follow the same aesthetic idea or powerset; from the black and white stylized mysticism of Hatrick to the sleek and sultry bodysuit on Bubbles through the orange fur on Bangorangutan, the bizarre juxtaposition of Baby through the giant shiny red nose on the huge, metallic bulk of Foolhardy, we embrace the full diversity of The Funny in our fight against evil. Plus we're clowns. All the world loves a clown.

The Legion is a close knit bunch of pranksters who always know the perfect time to foil crime with a well placed ladder. The Followers Of The Big Red Nose are new, improved and drama free (and available in eighteen exciting flavours!) And you're as likely to see us forming a conga line behind Ironclad while waiting for a missions to restart as you are to see us swinging to the rescue carrying a friendly truck.

    And to anyone thinking of joining, don't let the fact that we've all known each other for a while scare you off. We're the one of most accepting bunches around. As long as you have a character that fits the clown/circus freak/prankster/mime theme, anything else goes.

    Well, the first step is admitting that you are powerless over your addiction :)

    We're all pretty much altaholics too. We'll spend whole evenings randomly making characters all based on the same theme, and then taking them out on the town in Millenium City.

    I've returned to CO after letting it simmer for a while... I started back in beta and played for a couple months before taking a break to let the game mature a little bit more... Now i'm back and looking to join a fun bunch of folks...

    Of the few SG's advertising on the forums, your's peaked my interest the most.... I'm an altaholic and plan on starting some new characters before going back to the ones I started with oh so long ago... I got so many ideas when I saw your advertisement...

    How active is the group at the moment?

    Well, we're not as active as we were at launch, but any given evening you'll find between 4 to 6 people on - we're half way through a clowny rendition of level 40 Serpent Lantern. The small group of us that are on these days are tight knit and friendly though - head over to lol.guildportal.com and say hi/see for yourself!

    To celebrate our very first Serpent Lantern on Elite over the weekend (2 hours my clowny butt) the helpful funsters at LoL will be taking down Grond at some point on Sunday afternoon. Come one, come all for the show of a lifetime (assuming that that lifetime is restricted to Sunday afternoon)

    This may or may not be because Grond stomped on us when we rolled low level alts the other day.

    But either way! If you see the clowns bringing the funny on Sunday, come and join us!

    In case that sounds daunting, the form you have to fill in is basically "what do you call yourself".

    A quick update. If you're in zone chat and you ask "Are any supergroups recruiting" and the answer comes back "The Legion of Laughter is always looking for super powered clowns".... you don't have to assume you're being trolled. We really do exist, and we've been here since closed beta.

    At some point I said to myself though that since I wasn't taping it and noone would hear it, there wasn't much point.
    I agreed.
    So I mutually decided to quit the conversation.
