I'm an old CRPG, RPG player. A parent who doesn't have thirty hours a week to dedicate to an MMO. A self employed business man who doesn't have five hours a week to dedicate to an MMO, but probably would anyway.
Just wondering, from those of you who have played the likes of Wow, and other MMOs, how does CO work comparatively?
Can someone still have a good time playing less than ten hours a week?
Is there an RP community? Does RP work better than on any other MMO where it just doesn't?
If there is no RP, are there some parents who want to play casually, relax and escape the rigors of the real world for a couple of hours every few nights, or at a regular time each week?
I'd be happy to CO-OP content either as an RP group, or non RP, on a casual, I have kids, little free time, but love games and superheroes basis. If that's you too maybe we can get an SG going.
I'm in the EST time zone and my ideal play time / duration is Any night, once or twice a week 8:30-11:00 or 11:30. I need to stick to play times rigidly, because sleep is precious enough when you have kids.
If you want to make an ALT that levels at that rate, give a shout. I'm in the demo now, but would buy if I knew there would be fun on the other side of creating that empty spot in my wallet.
there are a lot of RP players in CO, just look it up at the CORP site (www.championsonlineroleplayers.com) Most people are also very RP friendly here, so you'll fit right in!
Yes! it sounds like my SG would be perfect for you.

Still also interested in gameplay and mechanics comparisons to other MMOs.
From your comments here I think you would be very happy with how CO fits into a busier schedule. The level cap in the game is 40, and to go from level 39 to level 40 takes about 2 hours. Each level up between 20 and 30 takes about 1 hour. These estimates are with efficient gameplay, but still fun and normal, not any kind of rushing or powergaming.
So a fast rate of leveling up starts to give some idea. I would say 80-160 hours is the amount of time it takes to get to the level cap, when you are learning the game the first time. The end-game lairs take 30 - 90 minutes each, and the daily missions that give access to them can be time shifted, so the end-game is quite accessible. It will take a long-time to do all of the end-game content with only 10 hours a week, but that is a good thing in the sense that you won't run out of activities and because even the hardest end-game content is all accessible in ~2 hour chunks, nothing requires +5 hour stints at the keyboard like in other MMOs.
In this game, gear and items are sub-important. The main development of your character is in choosing his or her powers. This means that a lot of the "grind" is replaced with a kind of creative complexity of designing your character(s).
Fast travel powers mean the longest it ever takes to get where your going is ~10 minutes, with ~1 minute travel times much more common. This means log-in, see friends or missions, and get to the location in ~1 minute. You get your travel power at level 5, meaning you are only without a "mount" for about 1 hour of the games tutorial.
I can go on and on, this game is very suited to a busy schedule. Almost to a fault, since more "hardcore" gamers complained that they could get to the end of the game in one month, etc.

Don't forget it takes about an hour to make a character with all the options available! XD And all the time spending with making alts:P
Ok, so I'm doing research to shed my noob-ness. This shows how noob I am, but I now know that my handle is Thwartem. I can be found in game that way. My main in Norz@Thwartem

My current toon is Norz.
Hope that's enough to find me. I'm kind of noob. Relying on some inferences from WoW, and mailing people there.
Does your SG need a healer? Rapture's homeless.
There's an RP channel??
Why does no-one tell me this stuff??
We need a n00b roleplayers group........
