The soft-yet-strong warrior woman is a character we are all familiar with.
What?
They are more "strong, but sexy" or "sexy, but strong" than anything else. There isn't much if any "softness" involved. Unless we are talking about cup-sizes, but that would be politically incorrect.
I'll give this one a try. I had pretty much the same thing going on (medieval warrior chick that I turned into a tights-wearer), but she didn't end up keeping any sort of barbarian look about her. It'll be interesting.
I went a little more modern materials but tried to keep the look similar. I did use the serpent chest so it won't work if you don't have that costume set.
Alright, here's what I came up with. You mentioned wanting a more old school looking costume, so I tried to hold back on the flashy bits. Basically her boots and gloves are the only real flashy parts (oh, and the knife). The rest is all tights. She's got the tribal tattoos on her arms, too.
You can check out my take on a female spartan warrior here.
While more 'strong' than 'soft' and not exactly a barbarian - it may still give you some ideas.
The costume file is also attached a few posts down the thread.

pretty much just changed some stuff around with the original.
Hope you like!
Nothing says barbarian quite like toplessness, right?
