Hello again fellow Champions, I come before you once again to ask for your help. I usually don't have a hard time coming up with backstories...though some times it takes me a while before I come up with one that I like. So I thought that this time around I'd ask my fellow Champions for some help. I have currently been leveling up one of my new alts, American Hero, he's might/ unarmed martial arts based. ((I'm still working on his back story as well..so feel free to throw out some ideas for him as well.)) Anywho he's at level 23 right now..so I've recently started thinking about his first Nemesis. I do have a general idea of what I want his first Nemesis to be..I was thinking something a long the lines that he's anti government. But besides that I can't really think of a single back story idea for him that I actually like. Or a name for that matter lol. So true believers ((Sorry Stan Lee, but I like using your catch phrase at times...please don't sue me!)) what are your thoughts? Please don't feel ashamed to share them..I'd like to hear as many people's ideas on the subject as possible. Thank you in advance!!

Back in the days, anti-American villains were all German, Russian and more recently, terrorists. Still, you might wanna broaden your idea a bit more than anti-government; something along the line of delusional anarchist would be good; which adds to the possibilities of superpowers.

Still, he could just be some kind of masked mastermind

If I was to make an American themed toon I would make him a man who holds the prime American ideals freedom of thought and the pursuit of happiness but most importantly his nemesis would be American extremists who only think there way of seeing things and there way of life matter. An ultra Religious zealot who targets alternative lifestyle people, A super nature lover who attacks mining plants while workers are still there figuring if they work for the companies destroying our plant they deserve to die. Half truths are always the most dangerous and the people who suffer from acute tunnel vision are always the scariest

Great ideas guys and SPrime...I did imagine him as being an anarchist...I just put in anti government because I couldn't think of how to spell it lol. I don't really want him to Russian or anything..I'm not trying to make a Red Skull copy. And Barbaric, your ideas are rather inspiring...its given me some ideas for a possible second Nemesis. I like the whole Zealot idea of yours, I could see that working in a number of different ways. Keep the ideas coming guys..still haven't reached level 25 yet ^^.

    A few ideas for you.

    1. The Assassin/Hitman: Someone wants your hero taken out, and they've hired an over-the-top killer to do the dirty work. An assassin who has his own henchmen, not to mention personal plans for world domination.

    2. The Overlooked Enemy: He was one of a few dozen VIPER peons you were fighting simultaneously, before your hero knocked him into those barrels of toxic waste. Now he's a very angry mutated freak. Angry because you don't recognize him without his visor on. Or he was a member of DEMON, or a manimal, etc.

    3. The Former Ally: Maybe a friend or relative you failed to protect, or a fellow hero turned to the dark side. Knows your hero better than anyone, and that makes them a deadly adversary.

    4. The Antithesis: Your character is Fire? This guy is Ice. Your character uses the Celestial power-set? This girl uses Darkness. There's no real MO here, but any will do. For the foreseeable future all of your nemeses are trying to build the same deathray.

    5. There Can Be Only One: Similar to the Antithesis, this character is from an alternate universe. He's your evil Kirk. Same powers as your character, but used for their own agenda, which usually involves eliminating your hero.

    6. The Prophecy Follower: There's always that villain who is ready to take over the world. While dotting their 'i's and crossing their 't's, they discovered (via their magic mirror, crystal ball, prophecy unearthed in ancient Lemurian ruins) that your hero was the only person capable of stopping them. Now they're out to get you, just to be safe. Conversely, they could be a Prophecy Denier while your hero goes about living up to their do-gooder destiny.

    7. Totally Misguided: Thinks their villainy is somehow justified and has major philosophical disagreements with your character. And much fighting ensued...

    8. The Unforgiven: He killed your mother, your brother, your family, your best friend or your girlfriend. He flushed your pet gerbil down the toilet. Whatever the case, he's going down. The lines between revenge and justice can seem blurry here.

The Corporation : Your character holds majority stock in a massive corporation that has plans to siphon every last dollar from the American people it can and then take over the country. The only thing stopping them is you, your great grandfather started the company with the current CEO and once he realized how evil he was your grandfather left the company with his majority share.

Your grandfather kept his involvement secret all these years and it wasn't until after his death, and the mysterious death/disappearance of your parents recently, that you found this all out. Already being a super hero you were a little harder to get rid of then they were. Now you hold the shares to one of the largest evil corporations on the planet and they are trying to get rid of you before you try to take control of it, if you choose to.

Basically what would happen if a regular super hero was given controlling shares of Luther Corp. Cleaning up a company like that would be no easy task due to the massive nature of the company and it's many secret projects. Not to mention the reluctance of it's employees to be "reformed" into a force for good in the world, and besides they all have ironclad contracts that prevent you from just firing them. Plenty of nemesis ideas there as well as he works his way through the lower bosses of the company and eventually up the ladder to the CEO.

Not sure if this would be the way you wanted your hero to go, but it's another idea, take from it what you will.

That's a good idea for American Hero's second Nemesis..but for his first nemesis I'm wanting something more anti government than just an evil CEO.

Anything You Can Do... This villain is pretending to be the next big superhero in an effort to make your character seem obsolete. Once he has you out the way, the reign of evil begins.

Identity Thief: This villain looks just like you. Has the same powers too. His goal is to destroy your character's reputation by doing evil deeds and convincing people it was you. Once he has you out of the way...

You could always hit up tvtropes.org. It's real easy to lose track of time there. ;)

Thanks for all the suggestions guys ^^ , Well American Hero reached 25 today..and I created his first Nemesis. I would like to introduce to you......Void http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v147/Masterhand/Void.jpg

Backstory: Real name unknown. He use to work for the US Military, where he worked on top classified projects. It was work as usual when a malfunction during a routine test caused a large explosion. The last thing he remembers from the accident was seeing a wave of toxic chemicals come flying at him. He later awoke in the hospital ward, finding that his hair had turned snow white. He also discovered to his horror that the left half and lower portion of his face had been horribablly scarred and that his left eye now glows an unearthly green. The whole ordeal completely shattered his sanity. The Military, knowing that there would be a National backlash should this accident be made public, chose to instead cover it up. Completely erasing his existiance from the world. Upon discovering what the Military was planning, the man now known as Void, escaped. He no longer remembers anything about who he was...he only remembers the accident..and the void that it created inside him. It wasn't long before Void learned that the toxic chemicals had enhanced his muscle tissue giving him greater physical strength. Void now lives for nothing more than to destroy the government, throwing the world into endless chaos.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys..they really helped me come up with this character..and your ideas have given me ideas for future Nemesises. Please let me know what you think. ^^
