Also, since this is the costume I'll become known by in-game, it shouldn't be too scary. I know it sounds silly, but since I'm your OCR, I want to look approachable in game, much like I would if we met at a convention like PAX or E3. So, for my purposes, I would prefer a costume that isn't "scary". Also, my favorite color is blue (Which is part of the reason why I like my current costume).
So, here's a couple of ones that stood out to me for different reasons (Note: I really like both of these. Don't get me wrong, everything that's been submitted is awesome so far, and I'm not just saying that because I have to.)
This one is pretty close to what I have now, while still offering some new looks, and I love the cape on it too. The wizard look is always a good one imo, but it seems to lack some symmetry for some reason. It's an awesome costume though, and I'd wear it with pride! :cool:
Then there is this one, which is simply amazing. That said, If I had that costume on and was wandering around a convention, I'd probably scare babies. In my situation, that's probably a bad thing.
I really do like all of the costumes you guys have made so far though, they're simply astounding, and I think it's a testament to what you guys can do with the character creator and is pretty darned awesome! I can't wait to see what you guys narrow it down to!

As far as details into the making of this costume, I took into account what you said, and that your name was StormShade. Storm implies a lightning-theme while shade implies the use of at least one dark color. The colors present in this costume are simply Black, White, and Blue, the cape being a gradient due to it's type.

Actually I think if you lightened the dark blue up a bit and added a halo it would be a friendly looking design. Maybe change up the gloves for non-claw ones.
We prolly shoulda figured out what Stormy wanted on the first page, but awesome costumes so far even if they aren't the style he would like. We know better for any future Costumer Eyes for the Dev Guys contests.

Actually I don't think the blue cyborg human one looks that scary. The demon ones look really sweet even if they don't fit the criteria thanks for sharing them with us.
Gratz on the upcoming marriage next week. I hope there is much fun and cake involved, specially cake. Wedding cakes are the best cakes ever. Mmmmmm cake.
Another from me (with a few variations on colour). I wanted to attempt something that looked heroic, classic and was more closely aligned with the new guidelines.
Stormshade8_1: Relatively plain, clean, recognisable. Lots of blue. Stormshade8_2: No Head Wear / Side Accessory and a slight variation to colour to break it up a bit. Stormshade8_3: Same as above but trying to use just the Champions Online logo colours.
Oh dear, Stormy! You really do need a bit of a make-over, don't you? I guess no-one ever told you that black and royal blue really don't go, hmm?

Now, let's see... Stop fidgeting! Electric/Darkness build? Likes blue? Classic look with clean lines? Maybe a little bit of a modern twist though...? Hmmm... One more like the starting basis I'd make for a character, with tweaks based on the powers I might take (the metal one for Invuln, etc.) and I'd add suitable extra touches for what I'd plan for down the road:
So many great costumes here! Frankly, I haven't been able to come up with anything as good! Also, props to Adogg, your costume contests are always great fodder for costuming ideas! Araushnee, gratz on the pending nuptials! Finally, I wanted to suggest this bit of background bio/ power idea for Stormshade, you should definitely have a nod to your job with your character. I suggest taking an off-framework power like Fire Breath, with the explanation that Stormy has the ability to take negative emotions and redirect them at his foes!

I do actually have a little nod to Stormshade's job in my entry; just forgot to mention it! On his belt, the Emblem is the Courage Kanji. I figured Stormy would need courage more than anything, what with having to trawl through the cesspit of negativity that is the forums day after day!
Id have to see the power set in action for the Custom Frame work to get inspired..

Seems to me that people seem to have forgotten the sliders for body and head customization. Although technically I guess the body/head arent the costume, I still think people should try some radical or even subtle body adjustments to give ShadowStorm a genuinely cool and approachable look in game.
Many folks in game look like joe blow in a snappy suit, when with a little playing on those sliders you can shoot the look through the stratosphere imo.
I suppose to avoid being called a Troll I should realy put my money where my fingers are and contribute, so ll8r.

Not a bad idea. I've seen some great ones - particularly ones geared to look like kids. Offender's kid version come to mind...
As Stormshade obviously likes his colours and concept I didn't stray too far. I went for a more traditional oriental look but with a slight twist. As he didn't mention his origin, I went with a mutant and gave him glowing eyes and in the last version, blue skin too The logo would be on the front in the first design and on the back in the last two. I think the last one is my favourite, but since he wanted a human look, it may not be the best fit.
This one is more Golden Age as he said he liked simple costumes. The logo would be on the cape in this case, assuming that is possible. If not then this look wouldn't work as well. The hair is spikey as it has a lot of static electricity I left it default, as I don't know what colour hair he has.
Edit: Re-did previous one in new colours and added a cape as Stormshade he liked capes. Also changed vest in case Cryptic logo not available on capes or he prefers it on chest,
Here is a refinement of my prior entry, intended to have body build, right eye color, skin tone, and face and face features except left eye and thunderbolt modified (that is, I did pick the build to be fairly heroic but not too imposing, but I intended to leave those aspects as sort of a blank slate).
Some screenshots are also included, including some costume color changing effects for some Darkness powers...and the observation that the scariness sometimes in evidence can't be helped...
Went to try some more classic/simple alternatives to the flame effect, which seemed less appealing in stills than in motion, and couldn't really keep away from the classically simple but stylish lightning bolt option, though I think a symmetric option for it would be the one thing I'd ask the costume artists to keep in mind as I say "please make more"
I will compile the entries tomorrow and then Stormshade can choose the winner. I'll narrow the field down to a few but if he sees a different one that he wants to select as the winner he certainly can.
Keep those entries coming until I tally up the results.
Since this is not a traditional costume contest, and we are still awaiting Stormshades final selection, I thought I would give out a few honorable mentions.
- This one blew me away. The detail that was involved with making the black area look like it took over a part of the toons body is awesome. It has a Venom/Spiderman look and could be used for a Nemesis or character. Very well done.
- All 5 of the submissions from Wytch are variations on the same one. I think this linked one is my favorite. However I do like the fifth version as well. The main thing that I liked about this costume is the way that the lightning bolt lines up with the side stripe inlay pants.

Very nice choice. I almost said something about that costume. Also, I highly doubt he'll mind that he amended the costume to fit in your Dev SG.
I just want to say that Sky Commander's toon is the ish I know I am gonna subconsciously end up taking things from that design if I ever make a asian style toon

Added the skull belt after deciding the cossy had too much storm and not enough shade.

- This one blew me away. The detail that was involved with making the black area look like it took over a part of the toons body is awesome. It has a Venom/Spiderman look and could be used for a Nemesis or character. Very well done.

- All 5 of the submissions from Wytch are variations on the same one. I think this linked one is my favorite. However I do like the fifth version as well. The main thing that I liked about this costume is the way that the lightning bolt lines up with the side stripe inlay pants.

The post that lists all characters only had my one crappy looking Costume file screenshot, but my original post also links to his CO page.
It's also accessible from the link in my sig to my characters, the character name is KnightHawk.. I expected you'd just use my design as a basis from which to make your own.
That said, every contest has to have a winner right?
So, Nexus, for this character, I'm going to be using your entry.
I'll be changing over my play through character to this costume as soon as I have the resources for it.
Also, it just so happened that I needed to make a character for our Dev SG, which will be used for PvP events, and other in-game events. So, in order to fit in with the rest of the team, I made some minor changes, which I hope you won't mind too terribly much:

Very nice choice. I almost said something about that costume. Also, I highly doubt he'll mind that he amended the costume to fit in your Dev SG.
