hey i'm new as of yesterday and as a power armor character I die 3 or 4 times a level at least i'm only like level 11 atm so I figured i'd ask on here if anyone could suggest a build for me for solo leveling mostly before I get so far in and have to pay to unlearn a million things?
I know theres something wrong cause dieing on a mission thats meant for people a level or so below ya shouldn't happen far as I know
also is power armor a good thing for a noob to play?
I know for most games theres a noob friendly class or 2 but what are they in this?
The two main important things are a passive slot enhancer (for power armour, invulnerability is a good bet) and blocking. Get a block enhancer ASAP and block whenever you see the enemy charging up their powerful attacks.
For block enhance, I suggest Force Shield as it returns a good deal of energy from attacks that are blocked. And grab the Force Sheath advantage which will give you that return on energy as you are hit a few seconds after you stop blocking as well.
The biggest thing is what are you dying to? If it is the standard group construct we will say 2-3 Henchman and 1 Villain. What is your current build? By providing some basic information we will be able to give you a more specific answer.
With every fight there is some basics regardless of build.
1. Spec to your strengths (slot/craft/buy gear that augments your abilities)
2. Control your pull (location, timing, numbers)
3. Take out the weakest elements first (henchmen) as this lowers incoming damage the fastest.
4. Block damaging major attacks (indicated by special graphics)
5. Use crowd control abilities if available
6. Use consumables if necessary
7. Use terrain as available
A key to every build is the nature of your defense. Without some form of defense you will not last long.
Every defense receives strength from a primary and secondary focus. There are synergies built into different powersets. In the case of Power Armor as previously mentioned STR/CON investment helps with damage mitigation associated with Invulnerability so within the first few levels you may want to select this unless it contradicts with a theme.
However understand that thematic builds while more true to your character may face some problems later on (using lightning reflexes which relies on Dexterity for instance on a character heavily slotted with STR or CON)

I died to anything and everything from those groups of 3 or 4 to named stuff like black mist and lynx
seems I was wrong to think ya could avoid hitting block button
someone ended up talking to me in game for ease of talking seems I was doing alot wrong like I hadn't had invulnerability in the passive slot I assumed learning it turned it on
nhe ended up suggesting Ichange to munitions for now cause its easier to learn and to put in regeneration too even though I loved looking like a robotic power ranger with jet books and chest rockets I think I may have bit off more than I could chew so gunna play it like that to 40 then respec totally if I really wanna
either that or make new character and skip tutorial to make another PA
anyone got suggestions for what "classes" for lack of knowing a better word to call all the types are good ones for new players?
He's right... munitions is pretty simple. Get two-gun mojo, shotgun, and lightning reflexes (assuming you spec DEX/EGO) and a self-heal of some kind. Once you have those, you can't go wrong. Later on you can play with the cooler stuff like minigun.
Might is also straightforward if you want a melee guy. You could make a giant robot that pummels people with his fists instead of laser beams.
Power armor is a bit harder because of its unique rules in using multiple attack powers at once.
The hardest sets are the support sets like sorcery and celestial and telepathy. Don't mess with those until you know the game better, except for grabbing a heal. Also, avoid all of the Martial Arts sets since they're mostly gimp and won't be fixed for a long, long time.

I made a duel blade that looks like anubis I made it duel blade due to not knowing what class anubis seemed like
don't think i'd like might when I melee unless it does martial arts moves I like weapons in hands (mostly duel weild) I kinda liked PA sadly
there any like offline character building tools or character look designing ones for when I can't get onto the game but wanna play around with designing one?

Secondly, block is essential regardless of your defenses or attacks...if you don't block you are to die a ton when facing Master Villains and higher. PA is great. I have a PA toon and I hardly die. Nice single and aoe attacks (especially when you can run 2-3 at the same time) and great defense with Invul. You just need to do some studying on how they work. PM me and we will talk more if you like.
At level 11 you can purchase MARS Stims (healing packs from a vendor). I'm note sure if there is one in Canada, but you can take the jet to the Desert or Millennium City and by some from the vendors there.
At level 13, you get a second superstat. That makes you much stronger.

Adding to Skeeter's suggestion, you can also craft hotbots and the ablative shields. Goes very well with Invul too.

I wouldn't worry about dying to black mist, he's very tough for his level.
I wouldn't necessarily give up on your toon because we all go through this pain of learning. As far as defenses read this thread about them:
