Very little if anything is known about agent prime since he always avoids the press and appearing in public and always works alone and in the shadows, for the general public is only another solitary high-tech superhero with his own motives for staying undercover, when asked by other superheros about his origins and why he acts like that, he says the topical story that he was a boy genius and that he got inspired by defender and so he decided to follow his steps and that he likes to work like that because he is a solitary person by nature, but the truth is other and only unite knows it
The truth is that agent prime is the first of a new generation of secret agents from one of UNITE new special ops division codenamed SMART. Some time ago Unite realized that their current efforts and methods to fight evil all over the world were not sufficient, villains always seemed to appear from nowhere and when they finally managed to stop them the damage was already done, how did they manage to build their lairs, their plans and their armies so fast? They needed something new, something different, something intelligent, and one agent called robert came with exactly what they needed: project smart.
The objective of SMART was to create a small tactical group of highly trained agents with super intellect and equipped with the latest technology in custom gadgets, weapons and tools of all kind, these agents would be prepared to handle every situation and strike the villains and their organizations at their vital points (you could say they are modern mcgivers).
However smart Is not only another secret organization, is also a think tank, due to the high intelligence of the agents they are encouraged to investigate and research, in fact many of the equipment that the agents carry is self made, many wonderful inventions have come from here that they are now shared by both unite and the world, form new weapons and gadgets to fight evil to especial fruit plants that can grow in the desert or nanofleets that can help healing cancer. They help humanity both fighting evil and making new discoveries, all for the progress of humanity and making the world a better place for everybody.
Their training makes the agents be prepared to improvise and adapt to the situation, make any resource availably useful and any tactic no matter how little effective they may look a success.
Their equipment has been especially created to be customizable in every aspect and there's an especial dimensional storage that every agent carries in his gloves and waist in which he has all of his equipment, it comes also with a mini lab, a mini workshop and a super computer in which the agent can build new devices and analyze data whenever he needs it.
Their intelligence makes them able to hack any computer, open any gate, disarm every tramp or bomb, operate any machine and understand any plan no matter how complex or difficult the situation or the device.
These agents would infiltrate the villains bases and using both their intelligence and their advanced gadgets would incapacitate the base, the army and the villain before they knew what happened.
In combat thanks to their flexible weapons, tools, training, intelligence and improvisation the agent can quickly adapt to the situation and catch their enemies unaware because they don't know what to expect, maybe it could be a freezing ray, a sonic bomb, a dancing hypno-disc or even a tiny black hole gun, or why not? A complicated riddle or even a very convincing speech of how wrong is what they are doing; the only limit is the resources and the imagination of the agent.
The primary mission of the smart agent is intelligence and sabotage but that doesnt mean that they are defenseless or that they cant do other functions, they are more than capable to fight and take down a super villain if the situation demands it, remember, they have been trained and equipped to be flexible and adaptable. They act like this because they believe they can hurt villains more by destroying their organizations, eliminating resources, capturing their contacts and exposing their bases and activities to the rest of the world.
The uniform varies from agent to agent, some prefer normal clothing, others military uniform and even others go in power armor, it not uncommon for them to create their own clothes; their only common feature is their incredible intellect and their gadgets. This is because SMART prefers to be as secret and small as possible and has his agents operate as if they were independent superheroes and also because they had found out that these agents work better if they let them work like they like.
SMART has been operative for 4 years now and has a total of 50 agents counting agent prime ready to take action at any moment, the program has been a complete and outstanding success since its beginning, they have manage to reduce and slow the activities of many super villains and evil organizations all over the world, sometimes even putting a permanent stop to their plans before they could become a serious menace or even start it, all these before anybody manages to realizes what's happening.
These brave men and woman have putted their lives in extreme danger over and over again and fighted alone in many different battles completely alone, always knowing that nobody would know about their activities or who were they really, but they don't mind since they know that their sacrifices serve the greater good and that they fight in a war to prevent this world becoming more chaotic than it is, it is no exaggeration to say that without their secret work there would be twice the attacks and damage made from supervillains and other evil groups.
But how did agent prime become what it is today? Normally Smart recruits their agents among the most brilliant students in university, who find that the live of a scientist or a scholar is just too boring for them and are looking for something more exciting.
Whoever the case of agent prime is different, agent prime true name is Philip Robinson and he was just like any normal person. But although he had a good life he was not satisfied, since he was little Philip had dreamed about becoming a great inventor, he wanted to create marvelous machines like Nikolai Tesla or Thomas Edison, machines that would revolutionize the world and make it a better place for humanity, he would become their savior thought his creations!, but as he grew up he found unfortunately that he had no talent, that he was awful at anything that had to belong to science like mathematics, chemistry or physics, not because he was stupid, he had a fine intellect and a curious and creative mind but nothing extraordinary.
This was a serious blow to his moral but Philip was not the kind of people that gave up so soon so despise his lack of talent he compensated it with hard work and decided to try and found out in what he was good at, during his search he found that he was fascinated with the human mind and all the potential hidden within it and found neurology and psychology, so he started to study them at the university.
Philip got his superhuman intellect in an experiment during an investigation, Phillip was trying along with some classmates and his teacher to unlock the potential of the brain with an experimental serum that stimulates the activity of the brain, they had been experimenting with animals and the results so far were very promising, their intelligence increased but at a very slow rate, soon they found themselves in an dead end because of the lack of progress so it was finally decided that their project would be cancelled.
Philip was sure that they were close to success, that it only needed a little more time, but time had run out so in one last attempt to improve the formula he made some radical changes, like introducing an especial type of adrenaline and hormones that stimulated the neurons growth and activity, and without telling anybody he injected it in himself, at first it looked like nothing happened but soon Philip felt something like an explosion in his head and a great pain, he started to run screaming all over the laboratory throwing everything in his path till he make it outside and fainted.
He woke up in the hospital, he had been in coma for one week, the results showed that it had been an abnormally activity in his nervous system and that his gray matter seemed to be more dense than before but apart from that everything seemed normal and no changes were appreciable, both his family and friends were happy that he was ok but they seriously scolded him for doing something so foolish and dangerous, but the worse was about to come.

In the days that followed Philip sank in a terrible depression, he was in the kitchen of his house thinking in taking his life when something caught his attention. There was an advanced math book in the table that his nephew had left when he came to visit, apparently he had been doing his homework there and forgot it.
Philip opened the book trying to forget his sadness and started reading it when something weird started to happen. He didn't had any difficulty understanding the complicated equations or the exercises, in fact he found himself mentally resolving all the exercises in the book and reading it incredibly fast, when he finished he looked at the clock and found that only 10 minutes had passed.
Wait a minute...did he really memorized and resolved every equation and exercise in the book in just 10 minutes? Philip couldn't believe it, did the formula of the new serum that he created worked? the next days Phillip would go to the book store and buy all kind of books about physics, mathematics, biology, engineering and many more, he devoured them at home one after another, memorizing and understanding everything in them, in one week he had enough knowledge and intelligence to surpass all the people of his old university, his ability to learn, memorize and process all kind of information had multiplied, he couldn't believe what was happening, it was like a dream.
After that he started buying tools and materials to test if he could put all that knowledge to practice, he worked hard for several days and when he finished he had built something that he thought could never make, there in the middle of the garage was standing a full operational robot made with trash and recycling materials. Something that a whole team of engineers could make in months with the latest materials and tools he had made it in 10 days with trash and regular tools.
Philip founded himself in his room drinking a tee prepared by his robot, thinking seriously in what had happened, what to do and his future. The serum had worked! He finally was a genius!...but it was really a good thing? As much as he was happy for the success of his formula and his new intellect he couldnt stop thinking about how dangerous it was ..he couldnt share his success with anybody for two reasons.
First because there was an small chance that the formula could have worked on him by chance and could be potentially lethal to other people, unless he experimented more he couldnt be 100% sure that the formula worked on everybody; second it could be a disaster in the wrong hands because we were talking about a serum that could turn anybody into a super genius! Philip was no saint but generally speaking he was a good person, this serum if used wrong could create lots of evil genius and the world was already to messed up to have a group of crazy scientist spreading havoc with their insane inventions.
He finally made the decision to keep the formula a secret and decide to start a new life, he moved to millennium city and started studding several careers at distance with no difficulty at all, he made lots of money by selling patents of his inventions, when he had enough money he bought dump yard and the abandoned recycling plant next to it , he reformed both so he could have both materials and a workshop to experiment and create in peace.
After getting several doctorates he started traveling and giving speeches about his discoveries all over the world, he also wrote articles for many important scientific magazines, he was gaining lots of fame and prestige, he even was offered work at some very prestigious companies and universities, but he rejected it, he didnt need the money and he was happy experimenting in his lab and sharing his knowledge with the world.
Yes life was indeed good but there was something missing, Philip didnt truly feel realized by what was he doing, he believed he could do something more, his intellect and his inventions could serve a greater purpose but which one? The answer came at a party for rising money for the homeless at the millennium city university.
After giving his speech about new methods of construction Philip was approximated by man in suit who invited him for a walk, he wanted to talk to him about something that he would found very interesting.
The man said that his name was Robert and explained that he worked for unite and that he was unsatisfied with their actual way of acting, that he believed that something new was needed in order to stop the increasing number of supervillains an evil organizations, all willing to do whatever it takes to take over the world, he talked to Philip about an idea he had called project smart an how he believed that Philip was the perfect candidate. Philip listened carefully to the plan and he founded himself intrigued with the idea, the more he heard the more he liked, they both talked for a long time and when they finished Philip was sure that he finally found his objective in life.
For the next months Philip would train and prepare himself to become the first SMART agent, around the same time other brilliant people like him came to become agents but he became ready in record time thanks to his ability for learning faster than anybody else and so one year later after the SMART project started he was ready for his first mission, they named him Agent prime.
His firs mission was to investigate the activities of a corporation who was suspected of dealing with illegal human experimentation, his objective was to infiltrate a facility of the corporation in millennium city, gather all the data he could and if there was any illegal activity end it. We will leave the story of his first mission for another time; lets just say that it was a success, it was harder than expected, many unexpected things happened, some incredible discoveries were made and Agent prime nemesis was born.
After the success of his first mission Philip knew that he finally found his destiny, Robert superiors gave project SMART their final approval, they started to expand and progress and Philip has been working hard and accomplishing new missions since then, he even found his girlfriend yoko in one of them but that like his nemesis is an story for other time.
Philip expends most of his time at the headquarters, when he is not in a mission he is in the research department, creation new gadgets for the agents and more inventions for the good of humanity, he even finds the time to help new agents and give them motivation and advice, Philip has become a very dear person for everybody in project SMART, he is always kind and always has a nice word or smart advice for everybody in the base, he truly has the admiration and respect of both his comrades and his superiors especially with the one who has become his best friend, agent Robert, everybody says that if he werent working for smart and with a little more experience he would surely become a member of the champions.
After the quarl invasion Agent prime has founded the trail of his nemesis, his recent activities seem to be related somehow to the rising of doctor destroyer organization; while he searches for him he keeps accomplishing missions for SMART and helping people whenever he cans as the superhero agent prime.
And thats in brief the story of the origin of both agent prime and smart, but of course there are more things to tell like how he made his nemesis or meet his girlfriend and of course what about his first mission? What happened? This are all stories for another time and more will come as his adventures continue.
