CORE and Inferno
After the global ceasefire was formed with CORE, most Heroes left CORE alone. However one in particular kept persistent to eradicate CORE from the face of the earth.
Inferno an ex member of Chinas Tiger Squad went rogue and convinced a good deal of The Peoples Army of China to join him.
Inferno was determined to wipe out CORE and claim their island of operations.
CORE had been known for their impenetrable defensive capabilities and would make the perfect base of operations for Inferno and his private army.
Not only that, but Inferno saw the ceasefire with CORE as a failure to eradicate a terrorist organization.
The first attack was on May 7. Inferno send in a large amount of transport ships filled with infantry armed with rifles and flamethrowers.
CORE who by then was recovering from their war with the world was caught off guard and had to fight tooth and nail to defend their stronghold.
When Inferno arrived at the scene, he torched all plant life on the island, creating a sea of fire. COREs troops retreated to their bunkers, knowing theyd have a disadvantage when fighting flamethrowers in the close corridors of the bunkers.
But then something happened Inferno hadnt taken into consideration. Tiger Squad showed up to repel Infernos attackers.
Infernos attack and his rebellion with the Peoples Army was seen by the Chinese government as traitorous. And violating a worldwide ceasefire was something they wouldnt allow.
Hordes of Chines troops flooded the battlefield to counter Inferno. The rebellious troops quickly surrendered, but Inferno wasnt that easily convinced. He attacked Shining Dawn, one of the Tiger Squad heroes.
Shocked by what he had down, Inferno fled the scene.
Inferno is now considered a public enemy of China, but no one has seen him since his attack on CORE.
CORE held several meetings after that day. Some thought they should disappear from the planet again, just like they did with PLUTO to rebuilt.
However most officers didnt feel like hiding from the world again. CORE decided to pull back from their outposts across the world and form a full force on their island.
