Bar Brawler

Hey, peoples.
So I've been playing a darkness/telepathy character, but I'm looking for a change of pace. Despite what I've seen and read about playing melee characters being frustrating, I wanted to give a barroom brawler character a try, something like a Lobo/Colossus/Hulk brute that has decent defense (suggestions for which would be appreciated: defiance, invulnerability, regeneration) but mostly dishes out good damage. I'm trying to avoid all ranged attacks.
Does anybody have any build suggestions, powers that make sense?

Thanks.

    Build by championBuilder 0.4.1

    Download this Build here.

    : Level 40 Champion

    Superstats:
    Level 5: Super Strength
    Level 13: Super Constitution

    Powers:
Level 1: Clobber -- Sucker Punch
    Level 1: Beatdown
Level 5: Roomsweeper -- Concussive Blow
    Level 5: Acrobatics -- Rank 2
    Level 8: Invulnerability -- Rank 2, Rank 3
Level 11: Uppercut -- Rank 2, Head Trauma
Level 14: Energy Shield -- Laser Knight, Rank 2
    Level 17: Haymaker -- Rank 2, Rank 3
Level 20: Shockwave -- Rank 2, Rank 3, Challenging Strikes
Level 23: Mighty Leap -- Bull Rush
Level 26: Defensive Combo -- Surge Of Strength
    Level 29: Imbue -- Rank 2
    Level 32: Unbreakable
    Level 35: Resurgence
Level 35: Tunneling -- Earthen Embrace, Rank 2
    Level 38: Rebirth

    Talents:
    Level 1: The Hero
    Level 6: Mighty
    Level 9: Enduring
    Level 12: Physical Conditioning
    Level 15: Relentless
    Level 18: Quick Recovery
    Level 21: Paramilitary Training

If Energy Shield/Laser Knight don't fit, take Retaliation instead. The advantage on Mighty Leap helps keep enemies rooted so you can smack them. Between Invulnerability, blocking, Laser Knight, the Defiant from Def Combo and the click defenses, the build is very resistant to damage.

-Playing a Brawler is as much about the roleplay as it is the power choice. My favorite alt is a biker, two gun mojo, lots of self buffs, Defiance. Starts any fight she can with picking up a chair or a table, mattress or spare tire to trounce the baddies with. Block enhancer is Retaliation. Works well, good survivability even though some say Defiance without enrage isn't worth taking (has been so far for me).

    Good luck and happy roleplaying.

I guess you are on my side then when I demand more throwable objects in Canada/Desert? :(
