How important was the tutorial for your background story?
For my Riot Cop it had a huge impact, because it made him see the world in a diffrent way. Thus leading him to join CORE. (Background story in the Fan Base Alpha forum)
I know for Millenium Man, it was very important, because it made him come back to the Super Hero game.
(Read his story, well worth it)
So, how important was the tutorial for your character?
For Vigor...it was a small bump on the way home. A shortcut through Mel city was apparently the right choice...not only did he make some excellent time, but he managed to save the place as well....with help of many others of course.
Brou was tricked into coming over from his native plane, and reacted to collateral damage and attacks from the Qulaar invasion. Since the people at Champs HQ are nice folk, it left a significant impression on him to stick around. He'll want to check back on old home later on, though.
Hey Eligar - Yes it was very important to my character Millenium Man - it was also very important to me when writing. I used the tutroial as a vehicle to bring my characters right up to present day.
hmmm, it's pretty important to the Scarlet Sentinel.
she arrived after the invasion had already started. Because of her own nature of being unable to leave helpless people in danger, the invasion prompted her to aide the citizens regardless of the fact that she was weary, injured, and recently became blind in her left eye (not to mention in a completly different world).
She fought heroically and was able to save the citizens thus recieving her name (from the color of her uniform and *Sentinel because the people liked the way it sounded) and aquiring hero status. In other words, she wasn't legally registered until AFTER the invasion she liked the people and had no way or reason to head back home, so she decided to use her skills as a hero here instead.
In terms of the background for my character I completely forgot about the tutorial. I started right as I got into the desert. I only consider my character to have taken part in stopping the invasion, rather than it having a huge impact on his character.
My destination was UNTIL's HQ, After all I needed to register myself as a hero. After the registration had been completed they sent me off for combat training. They could tell I had never been in a real combat situation so it must of seamed to them like the best thing to do for now. The 6 weeks I was there I learned how to wield a sword and I received basic combat training. These skills would be ideal for situations where using my powers would be risky. After the training they sent me off to Project Greenskin, knowing it would be the best way for me to learn how to use my powers. Unfortunately I didnt manage to reach the desert. While I was in Millennium city it was attacked, by the Qulaar. What sort of hero would I be if I didnt stay and help?
So a rookie heroes first experience in combat was an invasion.
Actually, personally, I'm glad for the choice to skip the tutorial. For several of my characters, it was jsut something to get through to get new powers, it had no IC relationship to them at all.
