Chat channel - auto select/sticky?

Is there a way (I hadn't found yet) to make chat channels a little more intelligent? When I join a team, it should automatically switch to /team. When I use /zone, it should sticky to zone. It's pretty annoying having to manually select which channel you default chat in, only to end up yelling "yup" across the whole /zone when you meant it to be in /team.

    BUMP to this!!!!!
    i need it too :)

also, a way to bind "channelsend" to a more confortable key could be nice; i mean, so i could write "/c1 bla bla bla" instead of "/c channelname bla bla bla" =)

oh, and also a way to auto open chat with the "/" key: so hitting "/" i auto open chat and write the / :)
    this could be very nice (so i had only to hit "/, z, o, n, e" to write in zone while now i need to hit "<enter>, /, z, o, n, e")
ok this is just a personal question, btw other chat system in other mmo got this feature :) so maybe it's not a difficult thing =)

I've been asking about this since day one. Sticky channel selection is what I feel most comfortable with. Having to type then entire channel name out or click on the drop-down menu to select the channel I chat in absolutely STINKS.

    /supported!

Why change a system which WoW for example already did so well into something as userunfriendly as this?

    /bind <somekey> "startchatwith /zone "

For example, let's say I talk on the "Blah Blah" channel a lot.

    I have this:

    /bind [ "startchatwith /c "Blah Blah" "

Now when I push the '[' key, it auto fills my chat bar with /c "Blah Blah", then puts a nice convenience space after it (you did notice the space between the final two quote marks, yes?) and -then- puts the cursor in.

I may have gotten the syntax of that slightly wrong. It's been a while since I set those macros up for myself, and I'm not on my gaming machine atm, so I can't check.

But it's definitely possible to bind a single key so that when you hit it, you're talking on a specific channel.

Clearly not a viable solution. You knoy have 1 [ key and like 5 channels. ;)
Even if you use other binds, there's still that issue of running out of keys,.

WoW does have a good chat system - I'm socked any game comes out today that doesn't at least take SOME examples from it. So far I hadn't see anybody outdo WoW, but I have seen attempts. CO's chat UI reminds me of CoH, but worse. I don't ever recall having anywhere near as much PITA usage of it during CoH days.
