Crafting and specifics

I apologize for the wall of text that is to follow. But I REALLY enjoy this game, and never like RPG's before until now. But I need to learn this otherwise I am going to fall behind.

I have several questions on crafting and its specifics.
Sorry guys, but I am still trying to get a grip on crafting.
Basically I am looking for layman's terms for this. If someone has a tutorial on video that would be awesome, seeing something to help me learn has always been easier than reading something.
I have gone through both sticky's on this forum now.

Here we go....

Here is where I am at. Lvl 13. I think I am at skill 100 or something, like I said, I am not sure.

What exactly is rank and skill?

When they say tangible and intable upgrades, what do they mean exactly and can you give examples. From my understanding, upgrades are what you throw into your secondaries or primary slots for offensive, deffensive, and utility correct? (are these also considered skillups?)

Are there different types of Arms Dealers? If so, do I need to figure out which one to go to?

This is from the tutorial:
"Harvesting crafting components.
Harvesting can be done at any harvest node in the world for your style of crafting. You gain components and a chance of a skillup".........I have no idea what harvesting means exactly and where these nodes are.

It says we can BUY training from the arms dealers, but I am never presented with that option. The window I always get is just info on blueprints and something else, cant remember.

As far as researching goes, it only allows me to research certain items, in fact it will pull up a list for me. I cant research other items. The same goes for development.

I am an Arms guy, so do I only get to choose from the 3 specialties? What is the main difference in the specialties?

From the sticky:
Arms
Utility Major: 1) END, 2) EGO, 3) INT
Utility Minor: 1) CON, 2) END, 3) EGO
Defense Major: 1) CON
Defense Minor: 1) STR, 2) DEX, 3) REC
Offense Major: 1) STR, 2) DEX, 3) REC
Offense Minor: 1) CON, 2) STR, 3) DEX
The upgrades I have now do not match that. I am guessing I will be able to tailor more to this once I level up and skill up correct?

What is the star rating and why is it important? Also, what do the points mean? I think 5 stars equals a point?

I have an insight that I got out in the world and it says to see the arms dealer to find out what the insight is, but I cant research it, develop it, etc. I have no idea how to open this.

Unless I did it without knowing, how do you purchase enhancements? I thought the upgrades you "craft" were the enhancements but you can buy these to?

From the Sticky:
Sometimes when I pick up materials from crafting nodes around teh world I see a graphic and I get a buff! What is this?
When you harvest a crafting node in the world, you will likely get an effect based on what kind of node it is. Arms nodes will give you a damage boost. Mysticism nodes give you an end boost, and science nodes give you a HoT.
This goes back to my harvesting question I guess, but I thought buff's were something like lighting reflexes and such that you get at the powerhouse.

Again, sorry for the redundant questions, but I am just not catching on that fast. I am just slow....:o

What exactly is rank and skill?

Your rank is the 1/100th of your current maximum skill. So you are rank 1 when your skill is between 1-100.
When they say tangible and intable upgrades, what do they mean exactly and can you give examples. From my understanding, upgrades are what you throw into your secondaries or primary slots for offensive, deffensive, and utility correct? (are these also considered skillups?)

No idea. I haven't seen any text around intangible benefits.
Are there different types of Arms Dealers? If so, do I need to figure out which one to go to?

Yes. Each main skill grouping has three specialities. Each specialty has a separate trainer. You need to go to your specialist to gain access to high-end blueprints.
    This is from the tutorial:
    "Harvesting crafting components.
Harvesting can be done at any harvest node in the world for your style of crafting. You gain components and a chance of a skillup".........I have no idea what harvesting means exactly and where these nodes are.

There are glowing items on the landscape that you can interact with to acquire raw resouces. In Arms, they appear as weapon cases mostly.
It says we can BUY training from the arms dealers, but I am never presented with that option. The window I always get is just info on blueprints and something else, cant remember.

You need to buy rank increases for the trainer under "Store" once your skill gets to within 10 points of your current maximum.[/QUOTE]
As far as researching goes, it only allows me to research certain items, in fact it will pull up a list for me. I cant research other items. The same goes for development.

You can only research items in the same family as your skill.
I am an Arms guy, so do I only get to choose from the 3 specialties? What is the main difference in the specialties?

Nothing. The specialties are cosmetic only.

Yes, certain blueprints can be customised by enhancement blueprints, purchased separately.
]What is the star rating and why is it important? Also, what do the points mean? I think 5 stars equals a point?

The star rating is an indicator of how likely you are to get a major success. Five stars give the best chance to acquire the best type of insight coins for blueprint purchase.
I have an insight that I got out in the world and it says to see the arms dealer to find out what the insight is, but I cant research it, develop it, etc. I have no idea how to open this.

It's used as a currency to buy specific blueprints.
Unless I did it without knowing, how do you purchase enhancements? I thought the upgrades you "craft" were the enhancements but you can buy these to?

The vendor box form has a series of tabs across the top. Enhancements is on the far right.

Arms grants a small damage boost named "Arms Damage".

Awesome thanks. When I get home tonight I wil hop in the game and look around to make sure I have a grasp on all of this.
    Thanks so much.

Any idea how to tell what specialty I have right now? This will help me sort through my items.

When you say vendor, you mean the trainer correct?

    Trainer=Vendor, yep.

I don't know how to tell what the specialty is other than looking at what type of blueprints are offered for sale. Each specialty get its own cosmetic version.

    *edit*

You can research any item in the same family (e.g. Arms, Mysticism, Science). The blueprints offered for sale are determined by your specialty.

And when it comes to these items, we really dont care what they are called.....
    Super Vest
    Kicking fists
    ETC.....
We just care about what specialtiy it is focused on, and what type of stats it increases correct.

The intangible benefits are probably referring to using your crafting skill out in the world. Like having a science skill of 300 to hack viper computer systems. (It doesn't come up very often that I've seen).

From a game perspective (as opposed to a roleplaying perspective) you care about 2 things: what slot does the item fill (Primary/Secondary + Offense/Defence/Utility) and the bonuses conferred.
