I initially thought that crafting in this game would be fun and useful, so I decided to level crafting on all my chars. The thing is that -- so far, and my chars are all around lvl 15 at the moment -- I don't seem to use any of the equipment that I craft, save for an occasional healing item. The reason: the item drops are always better than the crafted ones! I am beginning to think that crafting, sadly enough, is not worth the effort. I keep leveling crafting by breaking down items, but nothing I make is useful in the sense that they provide better stats or value than the ones you receive by questing/drops. Anyone else have the same experience?
It's about 50/50 for me. About half my upgrades I craft and the others are drops. With crafted ones, I have a better idea of what stats to shoot for and I like to make costume unlock weapons. I also use consumables pretty often so crafting is pretty useful to me.
I really do think we should be able to choose crafted stats at a lower level though.
When you hit 21 and start leveling your crafting skill beyond 200 you'll start seeing enhancement blueprints. These are for the craft-able items that have no innate statistics (other than a base defense value), which also start appearing at this point. Eventually, you'll have all the enhancement blueprints you need to make exactly what you want out of your upgrades and (hopefully) high enough stat-less upgrade blueprints to make it worthwhile. I haven't been able to go beyond a skill level of 300 yet so I don't know what the high-end blueprints will look like.
Depending on playstyle, crafting serves little purpose in the game. Luckily, it requires little investment for those with playstyles that want to take advantage of it.
I don't think I've ever been able to craft better items than the things I've found lying on the ground. Even the white items I find are better than the craftables, which I find pretty strange. As a result I've got an overflowing bank of crafting materials I don't know what to do with.

If this is the general consensus; maybe something should be done about it?
Trying... I've been posting about it... Trying to get a dev to at least acknowledge that there is a problem. Also posted some concrete suggestions as to how to improve it... And I've generally been answering questions and helping people since the beginning... Finding it kind of hard to maintain any kind of enthusiasm about it right now. A dev response acknowledging it and saying that it will be looked at would do a lot for me, but I have just about given up on it...
