Ok, so, I find myself wondering just how important a few points of defense are compared to several points in stats.
For example, I have a pair of items in secondary: one gives a +4.9 physical and +9.9 energy defense; the other is +9.9 physical and +4.9 energy. No stat bonuses from either.
Then I have an item whose defenses are 3.0 for both, but gives a stat bonus of a +7 to my intelligence (which is one of my superstats, and which I rely on for my high energy attack powers i'm running as a PA character), and a +3 to Recovery.
So, when are defense bonuses more important, and when are stat bonuses more important? I'm not sure where the breakpoint is.
In general PvE solo, I wouldnt ever go for defense, since I rely on hosing down the enemies as fast as possible, faster they go down the less damage they do.
However I guess defense might be important for tank types.
Unfortunately, I can't stand the way builds keep items in your inventory. I wish they'd save to the build and just. vanish into limbo till you set that build or whatever. I know it makes no sense but my inventory gets so cluttered and I never know what to sell or break down without tedious examination.
In general PVE, I go for the ones with +50% something resistance and switch according to the enemy...They make avenger mode muuuch easier to work with ^_^
