I am having a horrible time with severe mouse lag. Every now and then my mouse pointer will just stop dead. It will take 5 or 6 seconds to move again, and then it stutters with about a 1 second lag for another 15 to 30 seconds. This happens about once every half hour or so.
Now, maybe it is my mouse. And at first I was sure it was. I even changed out the battery on my mouse, despite the fact that the indicator didnt say it was low. Now I am not so sure. The lag was much much much worse back at the launch. For several days after launch it was happening about every 5 minutes. It cleared up for a few weeks, but now it is back hard-core.
Anyone else have this problem? I am using nearly new Microsoft cordless mouse, called the curve or arc or something like that.

Before blaming the mouse you should check when this happen if you computer seem to be under heavy load. As in, is your Hard Disk light pretty much solid during that time? For instance, if you have low memory (either due to low Ram or because you run many thing at once) the computer may be shuffling thing into the swap file. During those time the game may seem unresponsive and because we interact with the mouse a lot it often feel like this is responsible.
The fact that you mention the stuttering for a few more seconds after seem like such a scenario. Have you notice if this happen shortly after you switched zone? (like MC to Desert for example). This would be a time were loading and memory shuffling would be heavier if you have a low memory situation.
It doesnt happen unless I am playing CO. Now, I dont normally run any other heavy load programs, so maybe the load is the problem. On the other hand, I have been using this mouse for about 6 months, and it never happened on any other game (EQ2, Mass Effect, Sacred 2, etc...)
It does seem to happen more when I first log into a zone, so that very well may be the culprit. It does happen other times, but definitely more from about 5 to 10 minutes after zoning.
I doubt it is my ram, unless CO uses an ungodly amount... And my graphics card can easily handle the game. After all, I stream movies off Netflix on my second monitor while I play the game. And it isnt the Netflix streaming that does it, as it happens whether I am streaming a movie or not.
It is odd. Maybe a glitch with the mouse.
I bet it is due to zone loading. It is annoying, but I can live with it

That fact that it don't happen in other games do not confirm or deny that it could be the case here. The issue is how the mouse routine is prioritized. For some programs, or games, if they make it high enough then having the application load up your ram or swap data won't affect the mouse performance while in other application if it's set too low any amount of load will make the mouse jerky.
So if it happen more while zoning, it could simply be that the priority of the mouse actions have lower priority then loading and that's the impact you see. The mouse driver can have an impact on this and if games have options to use Hardware mouse routine or not can make a difference.
In addition, there's many other factor that can come into play. For instance, the CPU demand of loading data is different for each system and it is also affected by things like anti-virus software (for instance how much they scan etc). Champions seem to be demanding on CPU usage, so as you can see if you have a situation where all this combine it could have an impact on mouse, keyboard and/or video response depending on prioritization. In some instance, that kind of issue is perceived as lag when the problem impact the network card responsiveness.
