Can unique (purple) items be crafted?

I was browsing the AH, and saw an item called "fulminating supersonic armament", unique. The desc was also "greatly improves X amplifies Y", which leads me to believe this is a crafted item.

Can I get some more info on this? :o Thanks

    Uniques can be crafted - but there only a very small number of them in each craft and i believe they only available for lvl 40 items.

    Uniques are more often a drop, the cosmic mobs for example drops many uniques.
