Having trouble making your character look representable?
I'm not. Help is available!
If you're looking to get a certain look for your character, but either can't afford the time to spend at the tailor or just aren't coming up with something that doesn't resemble Bozo the Clown, post what you're looking for following the below format (as a guideline, feel free to post anything that specifies) and I will give you that custom tailored wonder.
Primarily deal with Super Heroes, not Ninjas, Robots, Furries, or Wizards (i.e. 90% of the costumes out there). But if you have the examples, or just request a certain type of style (art deco, classic fallout, golden age, etc), I'm sure I can at least grant you a base to which you can add modifications. Good super hero outfits focus on a limited number of colors in a particular scheme, generally a Primary, Secondary, Tertiary, and Detail color. Sometimes you can also have multiple Primaries or Secondaries, depends on the costume part being worked on.
Fairly Simple = Amazingly Beautiful. Detail often ruins more costumes than it helps.

Please.
Thank you, and I will love you for life.
I don't know if you're interested in doing recreations; I always make original characters, however, I've just been trying to find a way to sort of make a half assed Mysterio by messing around with full helmets, head size, and the like. Plus, he's my favorite comic villain, so I would just love to play him in game.

I made an homage to Mysterio on the spur of the moment. He's by no means my favourite villain but there's something awesome about his character. Keep an eye out for Impresario (complete with smoke bombs and hoverdisk!). =D
It's the costume. He's got one of the best costumes in comicdom.
