A Crafting Problem, it's over 200!!!

Okay, long story short, I have the Science/Inventions crafting. I enjoy it, and I made a habit of saving science drops to deconstruct for level ups. But here's the problem:

After hitting 200 (and reaching 21, so I have a Crafting cap of 300) all the drops I deconstruct aren't getting me anything in the way of skill-ups. I'm seeing 0's and 1's on whites, greens, and a blue only managed to fall shy of 2.

Am I doing something wrong? Is this intentional? Is it a bug and I should be reporting it?

All I know is I'm getting frustrated. I've been doing fine before that 200 mark (the lowest I saw was from trash drops, and even those would net me 3s consistently), but the moment I broke 200 the value of disassembling seemed to go right down the tubes. This includes items I make and attempt to disassemble myself (Those are netting 1s)

Any help would be appreciated.

Best way to level your crafting profession after a certain point is, collecting stuff. It's intentional, Blues give 4, Greens 2, Uncommon 1 and Common 0ish around 400, however if you manage to get a higher lvl item, they'd be giving more stars I assume. Intentional as far as I know.

Could you clarify what you mean by "collecting stuff"? Disassembling drops?

If so there's still been a step change at 200 - my brick hit 21 over the weekend I've been getting the same behaviour with Arms/Fighting Styles. 3-5 points (entirely off drops + mission rewards) pre-200 points, 0-1 points (off the same sort of thing) afterwards. :(

Actually, I shouldn't talk at LvL40 with 400 Arms, there could be a bug, or an intentional change...

Anyway, as an answer: No, not disassembling drops, by roaming around the map and "gathering" your profession "caches". I had to do that after 230 I think. And even with a 5/5 research, you get like 3-4 points if I remember correct, that's why I did not focus on the latter.

There's been a noticeable change in leveling up crafting skills since the economy change. At 26, I have 227 in Science. With my first character, at 26, I had approximately 260. Both were disassembling all of the appropriate drops.

The change they made to drops has turned crafting into a grind, where before it was supposed to be something you primarily skilled up by dismantling drops and unwanted quest rewards. But now, you're dropping 20 items into the crafting table just to hit 2-3, 4 if you're lucky.

That sounds about right - up to skill 100 I could drop near enough any item (drop/reward) on the table, get a rating of 5 on the bar at the bottom, and 10 skill points for doing the disassembly. Up to skill 200 I was again getting ratings of 5, and 5 skill points per disassembly - fair enough.

Now, post 200 I'm getting ratings of 0/1 even for a shedload of kit on the table at once. :(

Although from what you say that's more because of the economy change, which happened to coincide with my toon reaching level 21 and starting to try to increase skill levels again. Not like! :(

Alright, so this isn't just me. Tanks for the confirmation on that. The question is, is this an INTENTIONAL change from Cryptic, or is this accidental (ie: a bug)? I don't remember seeing anything about this in the patch notes....

I would say it's intentional, but since it wasn't mentioned in the patch notes, we probably should raise a concern about it.

To be fair, before the economy patch, I felt that it was too easy to level up crafting.

Now, it feels pretty hard, but I can't really make a judgment until I reach level 40. Maybe with all the increased drops, you can still reasonably hit 400 crafting by the time you get to 40.

Hmm, that's odd. Last night I was able to go from 200 to 300 with my stocked up mats easily. As mysticism, I crafted the wand then DE'd 2 at a time for skillups and mat returns...

Hmm...I should try that. Maybe the wand hasn't been 'nerfed'?

To compare, try crafting something with similar ingredients and then researching it.

It just seems really hard to get to 5 stars. Previously, I felt it was easier. If I want to raise my skill more efficiently, I have to put enough to get 2 stars (raises skill by 1) or 3 stars (raises skill by 2). To get to 4 stars or 5 stars, it requires a lot more stuff. Anyways, sometimes you can get to 5 stars and only get a +3 raise in skill.

Unfortunately, the crafting process is a bit more complicated, so it's hard to judge if or how much it was nerfed. I just don't remember all the details from when I leveled up my 40.

Oh, no. I just assumed getting to 3 star on 2 low items was good. I was only getting 2 skillups and went all the way to 300 that way. It didn't seem bad to me at least hehe.
