it's been broken since about june, maybe before. anyway...
the "atomic" enhancement states that it "gives 50% energy discount to AOE powers". i'm assuming this functions similar to resistance, where it would be POWERCOST/(1+DISCOUNT%).
prior to equipping this item, my Havok Stomp's energy cost was 144, and my thunderclap's cost was 20.
after equipping this item, my Havok Stomp's energy cost was still 144, and my thunderclap's cost was still 20.
based on my best guess, the costs for those powers should be lowered to 96 and 13, respectively; however, i am seeing no change at all.
has anyone had any luck in getting this enhancement to do anything? like i said, i've been trying to get this enhancer to work since way back in CB (mostly because it would let ease back on the end/int stacking just so i can fire off havok stomp), but have never seen it actually reduce a power's energy cost.
I have this enhancement from a critter drop. It works fine as a critter drop but NOT as a crafting Enhancement. Mine currently modifies fireball and conflag giving them a +50% power discount, which as you guessed, works identical to resistance and is additive to INT bonus.
I also have the Catalyst enhancement from Science (as a critter drop, again the crafting is broken) and it works the same for all ranged attacks; just like the stronghold shock gauntlets that were removed from the game. This one's a winner. approx 250 INT + Catalyst = 15 energy Gigabolts. Add accelerated Metabolism, Rank2 and Death arc, and more often than not Gigabolt actually nets me an energy gain instead of costing. Give me a group of enemies and I can press GB as long as I need to until they're all dead - OP lol's.

Just want to confirm this. I'm end/rec and I am using a secondary atomic item that dropped off of a foe. It completely puts taser gauntlets to shame, but the crafted version doesn't work at all as far as I can tell.
do the other schools (mysticism and science) have similar 50% power reduction enhancements? i would guess that one gets melee and one gets ranged, but i can't be sure.

I'm getting some programmer time to investigate what is happening with them this afternoon, I'm hoping it is a data error so I can fix it myself, but we don't know yet. Every one I've investigated that you guys have reported broken has indeed not worked, and look like they are correctly set up, so with any luck it is just one thing wrong with all of them and we can get them working correctly again soon.

Sometimes I wonder what the Q & A team does. Did you really not know up until this point that those enhancements were broken? *facepalm* As far as I know, all the enhancements that DO NOT fall into the following criteria do not work:
* Boosts a stat
* Boosts Energy Regeneration
* Boosts Health percentage
* Boosts Physical or Energy Defense
* Boosts Root, Hold, and Confuse Resistance
* Boosts Knockback, Knockup, and Repel Resistance
* Boosts Offense
I'll give a few examples of enhancements that are not properly working (Arms - Alien Metabolism)

Taser/Catalyst = Ranged powers
No idea if there's a list that clasifies which powers in what category, but there is definately a difference.
