Item Tooltips Bugged

The tooltips shown at the crafting trainers are not always accurate representations of the items. I bought several recipes at the Avatar trainer tonight. The item stats shown on the trainer tooltips were higher than those shown by the tooltip at the crafting table. Creating the item proved the table tooltip to be correct.

Investigation showed that the misrepresented higher stats shown on the trainer tooltip were the same stats as the item I had slotted in that position -- the trainer tooltip was showing the correct values for stats that my equipped item did not have and the higher values for stats that my equipped item shared with the blueprint item. (e.g., my equipped item had 9 INT 28 PRE 11 PD 11 ED. The trainer tooltip showed 3 END 5 EGO 28 PRE 11 PD 11 ED. Once I bought and crafted the item. its actual stats were 3 END 5 EGO 24 PRE 9.4 PD 9.4 ED. The trainer tooltips no longer display the level requirement to wear the item so it seemed plausible to me that 9 INT could be replaced by 3 END 5 EGO.

While I bugged this in game I thought it worth mentioning here as well.

In addition, several items sold by the Avatar Trainer only show PD/ED and no stats. While I think it possible that there might be items which only had defenses and no stat bonuses, the PD/ED are very low, which leads me to chose between believing that the descriptions are faulty or that the items were created with the intention that they be of no value whatsoever.

same happened to me, I learned an item that showed +20 Ego, but when I went to develop, it showed completely different lower stats. It's bugged for sure

It's not just the crafting that's broke btw

the stats you see at the nemesis vendor are not the same as the stats of the item after you buy it.

But i also saw what you are talking about with a power replacer earlier today. When looking at the stats at the recipe vendor they were higher then the stats after buying the recipe and looking at it in the crafting table view.

Apparently the new cryptic mission statement is: Bait and switch! do it early do it often :)

While it may seem that way, I doubt it is intentional. Rather, I think the programming of the trainer tooltips was a half-bottomed job. Witness the lack of level required and the items that show no stat boosts.

Imo this needs some attention. I've been pleased to see that the occasional crafted item has actually been better than items I was able to get by doing missions. I actually had hopes that crafting in CO might be useful. Inaccurate tooltips make the system difficult at best.
