Costume Unlocks

so I have a large list of costume unlocks, but when I try to change my weapon looks, I still wind up with the generic choices showing in combat. I understand the difference between pistol, rifle and shotgun skills. I have several pistol unlocks I like, but they never seem to show up when I select them in the Tailor. I do not have these items slotted anymore, but I have the unlocks. I expected the graphic to work without slotting the item again.

Am I wrong in my understanding of how the costume unlocks work ? Or am I doing something wrong ?

    I could add,

How come you can change the color of some guns but not all?

I would like to change my minigun, at times it looks skinless white...

For pistols you have to be careful...

Some pistol unlocks are for Gadgeteer, and others are for Munitions... I wish there was a clear way to tell the differance.

Quite a few of the munitions weapon replacers do not actually unlock a costume - usually those that change the firing FX like the Gadroon pistol. The only way you can have their look and firing FX is to keep the item equipped, but with the way they currently work you will soon outlevel the item and end up gimping yourself since munitions weapon replacers do not properly scale with your level. For instance the Gadroon pistol does not increase in damage after lvl 19.

This is hopefully a bug that will get fixed.
