...of the choice of the 3 Specializations in each Skill?

In Science for example...the Inventions/Mutations/Exposures items are all exactly the same in terms of stats and slot, and just have different names and descriptions. Does this change at higher level or is there some other purpose in being specialized at higher level? Is it an "incomplete" part of the crafting system that will be fleshed out later? Or is the choice of specializing simply intended to be fluff and nothing more?

I don't get it...

It's for appearance's sake, only. It's just so you can make items appropriate for the theme of your character. It's only cosmetic.

So it's fluff then hehe. Which is fine...I just wanted to make sure there wasn't some kind of functional purpose that I was missing somewhere.

Wasn't referring to Consumables and such, just the gear under the Specialization-specific tabs. Just to clarify... :)

I do get the need for some cosmetic fluff, but it's awfully disappointing as a new player to find that what at first appears to be some variation in crafting turns out to literally be variation in name only. Dropped and quest reward items appear to almost always be better was well, increasing the disappointment.

That becomes less of a problem as you move up in rank, and can choose what you want the crafted equipment to do.

And last I had heard, each specialization makes different actions figures at the lvl cap,

Oh I thought you meant for the crafting system in its entirety... considering that by the time you are able to craft at each tier your drops/quest rewards have been as good or better for a few levels I'd have to go with the previously posted answer ---

The entire crafting system is for appearance sake only...

Meh. As I approached 300, I realized that while the points may be larger on some random drops, the customization afforded by crafted items typically more than made up for it. I can presently choose which stats et al. get buffed by my items, so unless something is just hands-down stellar (which I've not found for a level and change), I'm better off using crafted stuff. I expect that to change a little at 40 when I have unity and better nemesis rewards available.
