Items with extra powers in green

So I have gotten various items that you put in Offense, Defense, and Utilities spots that have green text that describe activated abilities that come along with it. I haven't been able to figure out how to make them work. Are there requirements? If so how does that work? If there are requirements and you have them how does you make the affect happen?

Thanks for any help!

If you mean stuff like the Qularr pistol, those are combo abilities. They're listed in order of activation so the second sub-listing activates on the second attack. This is similar to powers that say things like "on the third attack, X causes bleeding"

Well some, yes, have multiple things in the green text. I'm talking about the ones with just one. As well nothing seems to happen when I use them and they're not activatable for me.

I believe some of these kinds of items enhance powers from a particular power set, so you will only notice any affects when you use those powers. When you equip the item, it should tell you which powers it is enhancing.

Recently I saw someone use the item Experimental Artificial Life Injection Item (was bound and a lvl 9 Item) I was just curious on where this item is found (desert, canada) and if it is a reward item or a drop reward. any help in locating this item would be much appreciated.

There are several kinds of green text items:
    Powers
    Power replacers
    passive effects

Passive effects don't require explanation, they are either always on or trigger on event without your interaction.

Power you have to activate(there are number keys associated with all 3 of your primary slots).

Power replacers change the effect of a specific power, so you get the effect listed on the upgrade when you use the associated power.

A conversation I had with a GM trying to figure this out:
[Tell] <GM> Litana@Litana: When you equip a power replace item, it changes the effect of a normal power. So you will still use your powers on your action bar, not by clicking on the device.
[Tell] <GM> Litana@Litana: Does that answer your question?
To <GM> Litana@Litana: Well the item I have right now was a dropped item.
[Tell] <GM> Litana@Litana: What is the name of the item?
To <GM> Litana@Litana: I've used it through multiple combats and it has never done anything. "Gatling Pistol"
To <GM> Litana@Litana: I've had teh same problem witht he Arms built by me other character.
[Tell] <GM> Litana@Litana: By not doing anything, do you mean clicking your energy builder does nothing
To <GM> Litana@Litana: Sorry, my regular energy builder still works when I click it.
To <GM> Litana@Litana: But there is no effect added (at least not visibly) from the item. To <GM> Litana@Litana: Unless the efect is invisible and I just haven't noticed a change in damage or something....
[Tell] <GM> Litana@Litana: The Gatling Pistol works by changing the way your powers work, and may not have a visual effect.
To <GM> Litana@Litana: If I may ask, then how do we ever know if they are working?
[Tell] <GM> Litana@Litana: I just checked, and the only visual difference is that your character will be using a different weapon.
To <GM> Litana@Litana: And does it only work with teh Energy Builder power? Nothing in the discription really explains it...
[Tell] <GM> Litana@Litana: That, unfortunately, gets into game mechanics, which we aren't equipped to really discuss. I don't know the stats offhand.
[Tell] <GM> Litana@Litana: Yes, it changes the way your energy builder works.
So, it looks like the Power Replacers that aren't assigned to a specific Framework just take the place of your Energy Builder Power (although nothing in the description or manual explains this), and may not even look different. There seems to be absolutely no way to know if it is actually working or not, as my character didn't appear to be using a different weapon...

You got your full power replaces. They typically are guns. They typically suck. Occasionally they come with extra elemental damage that equates to about the top rank of the corresponding abilities. However, they don't carry over advantages. So if you plan to not upgrade your shotgun you can find a power replace shotgun with fire damage and you'd be more than set. However outside of a situation like that...pure crap. You get em for costume pieces and then poop em out on vendors.

You got your enhancements. Pretty complicated stuff. They typically add procs to variety of abilities. It will tell you what it's enhancing when you equip it. It can be ability sets like ice (almost always lame) or it can be general like Ranged Damage (you know you got some good stuff then). if you see "fighting" thats energy building attacks. Also, when you have these items equipped the benefits will show in the description of all your powers affected.

Then you have full blown powers. Occasionally you can find an item that when equipped throws an power in your power bar. You can find some decent stuff here. Alot of things come with huge recharge and the item itself probably has horrible stats, but high up you can find some interesting powers.

The GM may be confused, just as most of us were, by how the game says power replacer even if it is a clickable power.

Except that the power I asked about is not a clickable power. Trust me, I tried activating it by clicking which I've seen work with at least 3 other "clickable" powers and the GM claimed they had tried it themselves when I asked about it.
