Assuming this is going the way CoH did, this post is completely futile. But since I don't know for a fact that Cryptic intends to completely ignore their customers and run this game into the ground I'll take a chance on someone actually being concerned enough to read and, god forbid, reply or even miraculously "make it right."
Fanboys please read no further. I don't need your assurances that sunlight and gold dust come out of the devs butts, that no matter how many people they make angry with their changes and how much the virtual landscape comes to resemble a ghost town they can do no wrong. You're completely absolutely correct. All that the devs touch turns to gold and god himself gives them the nod and thumbs up no matter what they change. Be assured my nose is quite dark and smells only roses.
First time I had reason to hit the bank since launch. I'd put a bunch of items with power enhancements into the bank with the intention of moving them to other heros built more appropriately to use them (things like static to swords, darkness to ice, etc). Lo and behold almost every item that was bind on equip is now bind on pickup. WTF guys? All this stuff is now completely worthless, as my character doesn't use swords, or guns, or what have you (ice, sonic, etc). I've searched patch notes and can't find anyone saying 'we decided to make all the neat bind on equip items bind on pickup because frankly when added to all the other nerfs it adds just that little edge to the sting of our slap in your face.' I kept quiet about the whole it was fun during beta and now it's a chore to play after having signed up for life bait and switch but this is the straw that broke my silence. We're not even a month into it and already I feel like I've stepped right back into CoH and the misery that game caused so many people. A simple search of the web shows I'm not alone in my grief. Yet I see nothing about 'making it right,' in fact, it appears that the farther along the game progresses the tighter the devs tighten in the thumbscrews. I'm real upset about the fact that my 'hero' or 'champion' can jump into the midst of a group of bad guys (four or five) and often only due to a lucky health or shield drop do I survive whereas previously I could mop the floor with them. After my frustration with yet another death, I decided it's time to look at building a different hero, head to the bank in anticipation of choosing a power set based upon the goodies I have horded away only to discover that they're no longer bind on equip. Bind on pickup?? Yes, withdrawing one of them from the bank BOUND it to my current character. Thanks bunches cryptic. Thank god I paid with a credit card because I seriously doubt when that final nerf pushes me to wash my hands of the entire thing happens (and I anticipate my next discovery within a week) that cryptic will calmly hand me my money back.
stopped reading at the wall, but one of the patch notes was that all mission reward costume drops were changed to bind on pick up, not sure if your shocked or upset or both, but it was something we were informed of
What Flufftrooper said - this was in the patch notes. I even transferred items to the character that would be most likely to use them before the patch because I knew it wouldn't be possible after.
So with crafting being largely worthless because nothing you make is remotely as useful as things you find plus their decision to just bind almost everything on pickup. I'd hazard a guess that they've decided to scrap the auction house rather than fix it.

I'd just like to point out that CoH is still running, and has been for almost five years. It released its sixteenth major content update earlier this week, and still has enough subscribers to justify holding conventions for them. By chance, the next one is being held just next month, in San Jose. Special rates on hotels are available now.
If that's what "running the game into the ground" means, then I hope Cryptic will also run this game into the ground, so I can be certain to still be playing and enjoying it five years from now.

Also discovered a few days ago that the power replacement you craft are going Bind on Pick Up... There is simply no reason to craft anything anymore...
Or is it made so you have to max every craft on every character ? sure nice way to lenghten the game life.. not.

buuuuuuuuuuurn
But actually cryptic has been out of CoH for awhile now, most of the continuing "content" has been provided from NCSoft I believe.
Or, I dunno, the BoP crafting stuff is a genuine bug? Anyone tried asking if it's intentional.
Generally if you have multiple crafting trees, the intention is to trade. Especially since the devs are still stating rather clearly they want the game to have an economy, and more or less the only thing to trade between players is crafted stuff.

I'm glad you still enjoy the game. I did too, for about two years. Then things started going strange. Consistent nerfs turned it into a game I no longer enjoyed playing. For someone not aware of the before and after i doubt they would have reason to be upset. I wasn't one of those people and most of the people I played with weren't either. I've been back a few times, mostly on the rare 'come back and play for free' events and frankly compared to before CoH is a ghost town. Perhaps you still enjoy the game because you weren't around in the beginning and have no basis for comparison, but you are almost completely alone.
I'm just praying that Champions doesn't take the same path, because in spite of all the claims to the contrary, people voted with their dollars, their patronage, and CoH is on its deathbed.
I have to say that so far I've been disappointed with the direction Champions is taking. Beta was fun, jumping into a large group of bad guys and mowing them down with relative ease is MY idea of what a hero, or champion, should be. Sure, a boss mob should be a challenge, but a group of even leveled minions shouldn't be an encounter that requires careful planning, skill and sometimes luck to survive. Would batman walk into a bar and accost four men armed with knives fearing for his life? I'm not talking joker, penguin, or any other arch enemy, I'm talking four college drop-outs dumb enough to try robbing a coffee house in the middle of the afternoon. I think not, yet that's what champions is right now. I do NOT feel like a champion when I play, I feel like I'm trying to roll a greased two-ton boulder up a hill and someone keeps throwing marbles under my feet.
I'm glad. The damn things were saturating the auction house.
only mission reward costumes bind on pickup. loot costumes and crafted costumes are BOE.
All the bop items in my bank were loot drops, none were mission rewards (that I can recall). But, foolish me, I didn't keep an eye stuck to the patch notes (mostly because the track record up to that point had been make changes and then beg forgiveness afterward) so I missed the opportunity to transfer the items to characters that could actually USE them.
Soooo, you're writing a futile post because you already know they're going to ignore you? Good luck with that!
Actually I posted NOT knowing, just anticipating. I'm surprised the thread still exists. Either the moderators aren't around or Cryptic has chosen to allow dissenting posters freedom to express themselves. I hope it's the latter, and I hope that they are listening. After literally years of trying to prevent CoH's evolution into city of nerfs without a smidgen of success I'm not holding my breath. But that doesn't stop me from hoping, or trying.
