Any old Final Fantasy XI players here?

Well, I shouldn't need to ask, I did see people post that they had played FFXI in other topics, but it made me wonder how many old FFXI players I could find.

I went by the (lame) nickname Babyorphan and played mainly on Asura, moved to Remora with a LS called HiddenPower, then went back to Asura again and switched my name to Decu (* links to a blog I made for Decu) since I wanted be more incognito (used to get run down with /tells - heh). Still got my account, but can't say I am playing anymore even though I pay for the subscription. I log in from time to time to chat a little with old friends, but that's all.

So, anyone else that used to play FFXI, and that I perhaps even knew?

Here's some of the videos I captured back in the good old days of 2004 and beyond, that I uploaded in 2007. If you see yourself in any of them, I know you - hahaha.

Been a long, long time since I played FFXI <^_^> but yeah, I played for about a year on Odin as a mithra named Yumii. (Long story, but she's still a character I make in every game <,<)

<._.> The one, the only, the Samurai/Bard! (Any jokes about strangling cats will result in immediate disembowelment. >.>)

Personally I mainly played RDM in my earlier days (soloed alot: Genbu probably being the 'toughest' (read longest) fight), then I started to play RNG for a while (pre-range nerf with KC was just insane good fun). Played some NIN tanking and then I settled on the more loner BST (although I had a open and nice LS that let me play BST at events (since I had somewhat better than your average BST equipment)). Did level my jobs to 75 though in late 2008 - early 2009 for the Maat's cap to go with my Guttler, hehe. I miss FFXI days sometimes, but I can't really find the motivation to play anymore - the mechanics are just too out of date for me I guess. I hope FFXIV will be somewhat the same type of a game, but with a more updated mechanic (I'd like to jump for one, hehe).

I played on Alexander server for about a year and a half (maybe two years, not sure).

My main was Dragoon which was good fun; also quite enjoyed Blue Mage, although I wasn't very good at it.

One day I decided to play X3 Reunion instead and somehow wound up never going back; later realised I had been paying my sub for 6 months without once logging in and cancelled my account.

Kinda miss it on occasion, but with FFXIV on the way I figure I'll just wait and see what that is like (got high hopes for that one :D).

Hahaha.. that brought back more memories. I just remembered how it was to really work at not dying in a game again. These days you have easy enough 'checkpoints' and/or minimal penalty inflicted on your character - you don't de-progress (like losing EXP) :) I kinda want FFXIV to have a similar system.
