Enhancements?

I recently got my crafting over 200 and got a recipe for a Ring of Protection. This recipe requires enhancements. I had no idea what these were. It said that I could find them in the world(I haven't) or buy them from a trainer. I looked everywhere for them. And then finally I clicked the little arrows ALL the way to the right and there were enhancements. If only that were the end of the story:(

Now I quickly bought the two enhancements there. One was for PRE and one was for Energy protection. Not great but at least I can make the thing now. I now get a slider on the screen instead of the message that I need some enhancements. I had enough materials to make a common version of this item. I selected the Energy protection. And then I noticed there is a drop down menu for minor enhancement. Maybe later but now lets forge a ring! Or well it is still saying I don't have all the components:(

SO. I had all the regular components. Do I need to have a minor enhancement to make this thing? If so where would I find one. I don't see any in the blueprints store? I am still missing something on this.

Any help greatly appreciated...

A customizable (italicized) primary item requires that you specify a major and a minor enhancement; you must have already purchased and learned the blueprints for these. A customizable (italicized) secondary item requires only a minor enhancement. These are what actually put the stats (or other powers) into the item; if you somehow found a way to build without any enhancements, you'd find it didn't add anything to stats.

It is entirely possible at this point to have a customizable item blueprint but not have any of the right sort of enhancements, or have a variety of enhancement blueprints and nothing that uses them. IMO this is either poor design or an incomplete system, but it's what we've got right now. Level up your skill, buy more blueprints, and eventually you should be able to make something. Depending on your craft and preferred stats, it might be quite some time before you can make anything useful for you, however.

I wanted to make sure I wasn't crazy. I have never been so uneducated about crafting but I do like the system. Maybe it will be better once I have all the pieces in place as I level it up:) A real manual would have been nice:P

There is a guide in the stickies, and it should explain all of this. if there is something lacking, please let me know and I will fix it.
