What hell is this? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v106/holy_hell/screenshot_2009-09-06-22-26-26.jpg Its called a Kris in the game, but a Kris is a dagger http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Kris_bali.jpg in a real life. It looks fine as a dagger but as sword it looks ridicules. Why did you make dagger model sword size? They look ridicules. Honestly the same is true of the gladius and kukri models which are suppose to be a short sword and a dagger but if you have seen the single blade gladius model its almost as wide as my character it looks like its scaled toward a huge guy. The weapon art in CoX was awesome so why are they so bad now. The only ideas I can think of are:

A. Their on crack
B. Their four year olds
C.They get payed less than minimal wage
D. All of the above

And if its D all I can ask is why do you hire four year olds, to do your weapons art, pay them minimum wage and give them crack?

Now seriously there are some good weapon model in the game but alot them look like crap. So please cryptic either put more time into the models or make them scale with character size so my character is not walking around with a gladius, a short sword, that is as long as the long sword and almost as wide as my character.

Here is a bunch of pictures of different weapon models ( Scroll down to Cheita Corps posts) http://forums.champions-online.com/showthread.php?t=55738&page=5

    Check again, sir :p

Anyway, on a more serious note; really? You're going to just sit here and brazenly insult the designers -- who, mind you, have been working on this project for years thusfar just go get what we have available now, complete with a superior launch to several now or once mainstream Massively Multiplayer Online Games -- about the models used to represent the gladius, kukri, and kris? Obviously this is more important than, say, the brokenness of UNITY MIssions for Level 40's, or the bugged and borked instances and missions that abound as-is.

I would suggest that if you feel so strongly about this particular issue that you make your post seem less derogatory and condescending, because I know if I were a moderator on the forums, the second I read that the team who'd worked on the equipment models were [sic] "four year olds, to do your weapons art, pay them minimum wage and give them crack", I'd disregard any validity you had for your claim and move on >.>

Yes, the Balinese kris is a dagger. The Balinese kris is also fragile enough that if you go and flail with one at someone wearing armor made out of modern or futuristic alloys it'll clink a few times and probably break. Do you want to complain about that lack of realism too while we're here?

The ingame item isn't necessarily the same item anyway. Many blade makers now sell "kris" blades that are simply wavy blades in a varying range of sizes.

A 12inch / 30ishcm blade on pretty much any character model would look silly considering the reach of most of the attacks. Plus it's a superhero game. Everything's bigger in superhero land. It's called artistic license.

I don't see any reason why the designers should even take the TS seriously.

Your complaining that the Kris is to big, as are many weapons.

Well, may I suggest that you do your research, before trying to sound smug by coming across as a complete ****** to people who don't deserve it? Yes, the Kris was a dagger, no, it does not mean we're talking about the conventional hunting bowie knife. The Kris is first and foremost, a ceremonial weapon. There are even special types of Kris, on Wikipedia, it say's the Kris is known to be an executioner's weapon. "an executioner's kris, had a long, straight, slender blade. ". And judging from the picture you "borrowed" from the Weapon Replacer thread, it looks pretty much in scale to me.

Also, if you want realism, would you also like for them to implement realistic hair and facial structure? I'm pretty damn sure maximizing your slider options on "BODY MASS" for males isn't to scale with humanly possible body structure.

Man some people are anal retentive.

Technobabble, much less size, isn't exactly a priority here. Don't even expect such things to be remotely logical.

In CoH, one of the two big Magic Origin origins -- Grey -- is the grey-style space alien. What that has to do with magic is anybody's guess. I can see they brought that guy with 'em to CO. :)

Performing Dual Blades' huge AoE attacks with tiny knives would look silly. If you don't like it being called a kris, pretend it says "Wavy Sword" and go on with your life.

    Also, just so you know:

Ok, just because you've seen a couple of pictures doesn't make you an authority on the subject of this weaponry, nor does it give you the right to start barking at the devs. Do your research before posting something like this. Kris blades are not just daggers; Moro and Keris swords in the range of 20-24" do exist. I have one, and there are traditional Filipino weapons smiths that make them nowadays for martial artists.
