Ok, not sure if anyone else is having a problem with the drop rate of profundities but I sure am.
Currently I'm sitting at 340 crafting. Which isn't a problem the higher it goes the more items I have to plop in for research in order to get a 5/5. However, I get a profundity less than 5% of the time, I'm currently sitting with 14 recipes I can't buy ranging anywhere from profundities through great profundities ranging all the way back to 200 crafting.
Is the drop rate scewed or whats going on? I only research at 4/5 and 5/5 , will only do a 4/5 research if i'm on my last items in the bag, and I just can't get the things to drop.
Allow me to post the bug ticket I just sent in regarding this matter:
In the past, i have experienced satisfactory profundity reward rates. Not an excessive amount, but hardly a small amount. However, today I experimented on enough items to produce:
4 stacks and 11 units of Pandemonium (211 units)
3 stacks and 26 units of Yggdrasil roots (176 units)
2 stacks and 38 units of Tyrannon Grimoire Volume (138 units)
5 stacks and 20 units of Loezen Lithic (270 units)
Of these, all but a few experimentations were level 5 experimentations, the others were level 4.
For this trouble, I was rewarded the following:
1 Profundity
1 Great Profundity
Clearly there is something very, very wrong. And I don't expect I'll be getting any magical "we're sorry!" presents filled with Great Profundities.
I've been having this issue with Arms. Starting at the third tier or Insight, I've not gotten a single one the entire time crafting.
I've made 23 5/5 Deconstructs, gaining a massive amount of crating materials. Yet, not a single Insight, even though 12 of those Decons have been "Major Success" in nature.
I submitted a help ticket about this and was told that the system was working as intended, and that the GM them self was experiencing a lack of these items on their own character.
I understand making it more difficult to gain them at higher levels, but I've almost finished with the third tier and have not received a single one.
I was thinking that if perhaps the system is supposed to work this way, being so hard to get any of the third tier and above insight/profundity/epiphany perhaps we should get a relatively high cost blueprint that would allow us to at least make them out of some of the hundreds of materials we obtain while not getting them.

First, that font is terribly tiny and illegible.
Second, I echo your comments. On my main I am getting perilously close to skill level 380, at level 35, and have seen exactly one great insight.
It would be really nice if they would publish the percents for this. As with many things in the game the descriptions are misleading and frustrating. Take crafting: At level 1 - 100 the 5/5 scale if you craft a 5/5 you get 10 crafting points a 4/5 gives you 8 points it is mostly a 2 for 1, but at 101-200 you get a max of 4 crafting points with a 5/5 and it goes lower for each level. How hard would it be to put in the display the number of actual crafting points you will get from the experiment and add the percent chance for getting epiphanies?
This would be very helpful.
Someone who was crafting at level 250 and put what is now a 2/5 in to craft would see that they will get 1 skill up point and have a 0 chance to get an profunity (or what every you get at that level having never successfully got one). Then we could see if the drop rate between 300-400 is something like
1/5 gives 1 skill point with 0 chance for Greater insight,
2/5 gives 1 skill point with 0 chance of Greater insight,
3/5 gives 1 skill point with 0 chance of Greater insight,
4/5 gives 2 skill points with 1% chance of Greater insight,
5/5 gives 2 skill points with 2% chance of Greater insight.
What they should really do is at least quadruple the chance and make it cumulative so that if you do 10 5/5 crafting between level 300-400 you get an 8% chance (if my guess of 2% chance is correct) per attempt and if you still have not gotten one by try 10 you have an 80% chance. The chance could reset after you have gotten one and then you would start cumulatively again.
The current system for me is just not fun, I do not like having an unknown very small random roll determine if I will be able to do something that I have spent many hours working on. There really should be another way to get these if you do not get the random roll go in your favor. Maybe a conversion of some resources or just a straight purchase from the store.
It should be noted that once you hit the 320's it's much easier and faster to harvest to gain crafting levels. As it seems looting the in world resources nodes raises your crafting ability about 40% of the time as I once ran around monster island and looted about twenty nodes to get +9 to skill, the next run I got +14. Each run taking less than ten minutes to do, only slowing for brief fights near the nodes themselves.
So this is lame, I'm at 400 arms on one character, and 400 science on another and over the past week of ONLY decrafting at 5/5 i've received ZERO insights of any sort on either craft. this includes breaking down lvl 40 purples with 5/5 ratings....
Obligatory "me too" post. I haven't kept track of all my attempts but I know I've not received a single regular Insight and I've gone from 200 skill to about 310 skill. By contrast I have around 10 each of Slight and Mild Insights and I know I've used a few already so that's what I have left over. Regular Insights just aren't dropping for me and I'm about to enter Great Insight territory in terms of skill level. I can't say I've always done 5/5 breakdowns, but I try to. I have to stack up quite a few items to make up a 5/5 these days, so it probably hasn't been that many actual attempts, which is perhaps part of the problem. The sheer number of even good quality items that you need to get that rating up in the 200+ range means if you don't farm drops, you're unlikely to ever see more than a couple and I haven't seen ANY. Is THAT intended?
Who knows, dev's don't seem to want to respond because this post isn't 30 pages long, but it is still an issue on all my characters, its rediculous actually. On my main I'm still missing 15 recipes from slight and regular profundities, haven't seen a great profundity in well about a month.
Yes, it appears to be totally jacked. I'm not getting Epiphanies like I should be. Between this and the jacked up Enhancements crafting is pretty worthless. I hope they beat the idiot that suppose to be taking care of the crafting section of this game. Seriously, we were enjoying it before, why screw it up? Seems to be a running theme with this game.
Somebody said in another post that there were certain requirements that had to be met with research in order to get Great Insights/Epiphanies/Profundities. I've followed the advice and have had a close to 90% drop rate of Great Insights from 5/5s since then.
The requirements are:
All items level 31 or higher
Majority of items yellow rarity or higher.
