Targeting Issue

I am new to the game, didn't do any beta or jumpstart stuff, so I am still learning. Having a ball! I have been through several MMO launches and am happy with this one so far.

BUT: After the last patch I am having issues targeting enemies. It doesn't seem consistent, so it isn't always a problem, but it is happening enough to be really annoying and has gotten me killed.

For instance, I tried to target an enemy near rubble, but it targeted the rubble instead, and I could not get it to change targets. I had to destroy the rubble (while getting blasted) before I could engage the enemy.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Same over here man. there have been a few situations where irradiated enemies and ghosts will be right in front of me and i wont be able to target them and attack them but i will still receive damage from them. I tried switching the the 360 controller to see if that would help but in all honesty it made it worse.

Targetting in this game is bad, very bad. My biggest complaint is aggro targetting, sometimes you get aggroed and shot at and it takes you severals seconds to figure out what mob is attacking you, mobs seems to have an incredibly LONG range when it comes to attacking a player.

I agree....this is an issue I hope they will fix...nothing more aggravating then dying because of this.

I am sorry to hear this happening to more people, but am relieved that it's not just my meds . . .

    ;)

Hopefully it is obvious enough to get some attention in a patch soon.

Gonna try to help you guys out in the targetting issues. Here's a couple of suggestions:

If you find that you are continually attacking objects:
    1. Go to Options/Controls and Turn On the option <Never Auto-Target Objects>. The only thing with this is that you will have to manually click on an object if you want to destroy it or pick it up.
    2. At the very bottom of your Options/Control there is a pull-down option for your energy builder power. Choose <Maintain>. With this option, you have to hold down your Energy builder to fire it. If you are a melleer it would probably be safe to leave this on <Toggle, Never Cancel> but if you are ranged <Maintain> may be best.
    3. If you are using FPS/Shooter style targetting, go to your option for Auto-Target Priority and choose <Nearest Within Camera Centre> instead of <Closest to Camera Centre>.
    4. Finally, if you are still having problems targetting, type "/CameraTargetting 1" in your chat bar. Some of my friends have reported that enabling that restored the targetting functionality back to their control. EDIT: This command does not work through the chat line. It works through the console by enabling
-enableDebugConsole and pulling down the console by hitting the tilde [`} key.

If you found that "/CameraTargetting 1" helped and you don't want to keep typing that command in the chat line, make a .txt file in your <drive>:\Cryptic Studios\Champions Online\Live folder and save it as ent_keybinds.txt. Put the command "CameraTargetting 1" in the that text file. You may as well add the commands "cam_pitch_speed 5" and "cam_yaw_speed 5" to that .txt file to make your controls more responsive. If you find that the controls are too twitchy, you can always lower the number anywhere from 5 to 1.
