Rangefinder/Distance Measurements?

I've looked around in the options and can't seem to find anything that resembles a rangefinder for my targeting frame. Either I'm incredibly dense or it's just not there.

Seeing as how every attack power that I can think of has a range it's nice to know just how close you are to your target. If I have a 50 or 100 foot ability then it's nice to know if I'm 59, 84, or 103 feet away from that target so I can put as much strategy into my movement as I do my attacks.

It's nice to know at any given second which of my attacks are in range without having to waste time trying various powers to see which ones charge.

A nice addition to this would be some better visual cues in the power tray as to which powers can't be used do to range, energy shortage, disabled by debuff, etc.

I understand that there are other much more important things to work on, but this is something that would be really nice to see and I think would make combat more fluid and a little less frustrating.

Thanks for reading.
Have a nice day. :)

I noticed that too, and it IS pretty annoying. The UI saw a good amount of changes this patch though, so I'm guessing this sort of polish shouldn't be too far off. /crosses fingers.

Dunno about the rangefinder, but this would be great.

A nice way to implement it would be an option to have circle super imposed on the ground with a distance written. 10, 50, 100 etc... Not allowing the skill to fire if your target isn#t in range would be also a nice option. Or even the standard color-in-red icons if the target is not in range. I like that one less as you have to always look at the icon at the bottom.

or even put an icon with key of the skill near the target name to show those skills are usable.

Rangefinder with an indication as part of the targeting reticle around the mob would be great.

I really like that idea Aepervius. Although after thinking about how it would work, I'd change it a bit.
    Keybound ability-
    Rangesight (or Depth Perception)
    Free ability for all characters
    0 endurance cost
Player centered 200 foot radius sphere
Applies filter to background colors to make players and NPCs more visible (similar to teleportation sight, but not nearly as severe, might save some dev time by re-purposing Tele sight though, a more subtle version of the map-edge out-of-bounds vison could be nice too)
Applies a color filter to all possible targets in sphere. Blue for possible targets in melee striking range, sky blue to green for power ranges from 7 to 50 feet (green would be the furthest distance attackable by a ranged energy builder power), yellow to red for power ranges from 50 to 100, magenta/purple for powers over 100 (the sniper attack being the only one I can remember), and black for out of range.
This could be modified to reflect your characters available powers. So if your longest attacks are 50 feet then everything past that shows up as black.
    -Tap: Toggles Rangesight
-Maintain: Longer than (whatever fraction of a second fits best for the tap) provides Rangesight only for the duration it is held.

If this could be made to fit the gameplay (not sure how it would factor into PVP) then it might be nice to see a Telepathy power (or any other tree that could feasibly support it) that would activate Targetsight, which would instead display your current target's attack range(s).
