The "My Character" bugs compilation Thread

If you find any bugs for the recently fixed My Characters portion of the website, post it here.


In the newly fixed My Characters feature, we get the option to make blog posts on Champions. I'd love it if you added a delete and edit function after posting, I have a misspelling in the blog that's knocking at my brain.:p

Editing the camera angle is currently extremely wonky, tilting the camera sometimes instead rotates the character, in some cases it'll pull off the head of the character and focus on the legs, resulting in you ony being able to view the head again if you use the zoom out function or not save after making camera changes. Sometimes rotating zooms in on the legs, similar to what tilting does. *Edit* Now that i've tried it more, it seems all the camera options want to attach themselves to the legs after a while. Using rotate does not rotate in the opposite direction if you choose extreme left, or extreme right, sometimes it just rotates the character halfway, a quarter, or not at all.

My friends are having problems finding my blog posts, this may also be a result that My Characters was re-released a little while ago. Still, it seems my friends need quick and easy access to my blog. A button linking you to your friend's character lists which then subsequently leads to thier biographies, blogs, etc.

I understand that it literally came out an hour and a half ago, but I think it's important to make the devs aware of the newest bugs.;)


I'll be updating as I find more bugs with it, I have nothing better to do anyways, laptop is in the shop.:rolleyes:

    I cant access this "my characters" or "rate my champion". If I click the links on the front page, it simply links back to the front page..

    edit: this problem is for firefox browser. IE allows me to use the link.

    However even with IE the portraits are missing pictures and clickng them does nothing.

    One of my characters (incidentally the one I use in my sig) is missing alltogether.

    I have no pictures, just "N/A", or any functionality other than "set as main" with either Firefox or IE. Clicking on the portrait appears like it's supposed to do something, but doesn't. Maybe it's because the server is down, and it actually queries the server on the fly? Unlike LoTRO which just updates on its own delayed schedule. Will try again later..

    "Set As Main" works temporarily to the correct character, then resets back to the old one. I am reloading this page, clicking set as main, and it's wonky and wrong.

    It might be hardware based, It's all working fine for me.:(

    Ok, thanks. :)

    After testing a few times, apparently "Set as Main" sets my portrait to the correct character for about 10 seconds, then it gets reset back to what it was.

    OMG, now it flipped back again on its own lol.

    this might be related to server being down, after all, this is the first time I have attempted to access the service so it might be querying now..

    I think we all need to calm down, lol.

    They're bringing the RMC and the My Characters functions back from the dead, no doubt there will be bugs. Let's just wait and see how they fix it later today... and if they don't, then we can complain again.;)

    Currently I get some "No characters in the database." messages, but I assume that is because servers are down, but the Rate my Champion and My Characters links has been re-directing to the /frontpage for a while now. And I can't for the love of god change my forum avatar, Main Character, Custom, No Avatar, it has no bearing at all and will show the stinky black head on grey background default regardless :/ (Tried with both IE and Firefox).

    Not to worry, they didn't delete your precious little ones. It's as you say it, because the servers are down. There's no way they'd get away with deleting characters.;)

    I was failing at the custom avatar too until I made sure it was exactly 100x100 pixels, as well below the minimum file size (and also a GIF, but probably that is incidental.) Working now! Sorry to OP for off topic.

    Hmm.. maybe I should try with a GIF, but the size has been exactly 100x100 pixels for a long time, hehe. And yeah, Mighty Pencil, I don't worry that my characters are gone exactly :p

    Also, the uploaded avatar does show on the http://www.champions-online.com/userspace/profile (Crypic Space) page, and in the My Account - Settings.. just not here on the forums :S Edit: Nope, GIF change didn't help either, and it's only 8 kilobytes (well below the 50 advertised as max) :D From the Cryptic Space page, I can even see that it is uploaded and can link it here http://www.champions-online.com//dyncontent/fightclub/uploads/avatar/371447 - I guess there's a error in how it links it (or rather doesn't) to my forum account.

    It may be a little too early for that discussion yet... from the look of it the whole system is still being being worked on... we'll have to see what it's like when it's truly up.

    Yes, thank you for saying virtually the exact same thing I said a couple posts up.

    But seriously though, we're not posting to rag on them, we're posting so they're aware of what needs to be fixed right out of the gate, as opposed to later on. Just want to make them aware of the bugs that still exist, we're not saying "NOW, FIX THEM RIGHT NOW." we're saying, "Here are the bugs we found so far, please consider them when you get the chance."

    Hmm.. I think I'll make a character named Mighty Eraser, we shall be Nemiesisesisesies (or Nemesis sissies), Mighty_Pencil! Or perhaps you already made yourself a eraser nemesis? :(

    I spent a good part of alunch hour dreaming up and typing in an origin biography, pressed save which seemed to work but now the biograophy is gone! :mad:

    Only 8 of my 9 characters are showing on the page - and the one that is missing is the one I previously designated as my 'Main.' And when I go into settings to select my main character as my forum avatar, I see the 'shadow' (or blank) avatar currently.

    I have a lifetime account, so that's why I have 9 characters...

    EDIT: Seems to be working now -- thank you to whoever fixed it!

    One of my character's portraits looks like a result of the random button instead of what the character actually looks like. Isn't even the correct gender.

    My character portrait shows as a completly black female character, my guy is male so thats a slight issue :)

    strangly the correct image shows up on the forums though.

    Check if you are logged into the webpage. When this happens to me, I have been logged out of the system and have to relog.

    When i go to the "My Characters" page, it isnt even my character, lol. Possibly the problem is that there is another character with the same name, and it confused the two, or there is just some problem. But i can clearly tell it is not my character.

    I can't change my main for any of my characters. It says "unable to find character". Also it's not possible to open any of my chars, just the one that's set as main right now.

    I am having the same problem as you...cannot save anything as well, sometimes by repeatedly clicking it will finally let me go to a different character but I can not save any changes without the message "unable to find character"

    Currently only the latter 2 toons I created show up the oldest and first no longer does. Though sometimes he shows up in my avatar. Which brings me to the second issue. The 2 toons that DO show up if I select "SET AS MAIN" it says "Unable to find character"...actually it says it twice. This is the same in Chrome, IE, and Firefox

    The My Characters page is not updated:

    First time i hit this page, i had 3 chars, my main was 14

    Today, I have 5 chars, main is 18.

    But when i go to my characters page i can still see the 3 chars ( one of them was deleted ) and my main is still 14. The last ones I created don't appear

    ..someone one the forum team seems to have fixed my forum avatar (its set to 'Main' in the setting page)
    Gonna check to see if it shows on account page..

    Both my characters now show on my character page and I can access 'Rate My Champion'

    I wonder how long it will last this time?

    Some of my character avatars look just fine. One looks fine unless I set it as my main, and then it looks completely wrong. Another has had two different wrong looks recently without being set as main. Weird stuff. This whole character display tool is going to be very neat, once they chase the gremlins out of it. :)
